ELF – Eyes Lips Face

I first found out about ELF when I was hoking through my sister’s makeup drawer a couple of years back. I was confused because we don’t have the brand sold in the UK. So, I asked her about it and she explained how she bought it online. That really perplexed me, why would someone go makeup shopping… online!? I love going to shops and physically seeing the makeup, swatching it, smelling it etc. But, after looking at the items online& having seen the ones she had (mineral concealer & powder) it became  more clear! The makeup is a good price and the products are great!

So I went and i purchased 2 items (liquid liner and something else, but i forget what) – this was about 3- years ago I think. I wasn’t overly fond of the liquid liner if i’m honest, but that may very well be because it was my first liquid liner, so I found it tricky to apply.

ANYWAY, I’m blogging today to talk to you about their most up-to-date collection of makeup and tools.

I haven’t bought any since the first purchase, but I will be very soon!

Anyway, The Products That Interest Me:

‘Best Sellers’

Eyelid Primer:

This product has been raved and raved about, so for £1.95 I may as well give it a go, see if it’s worth the hype, eh? It comes in 4 different shades, champagne, sheer, pearl & golden, I will probably be purchasing it in pearl as i love a silvery shade on my eyes!

Mineral Eyeliner:

Didn’t know ELF did its own mineral liner, but i really love their mineral concealer, so I think i’ll give it a shot! This comes in 5 different shades, Black, coffee, midnight, ash & metallic purple. (Black, brown, dark blue, grey & purple) Since I am a huge grey-liner-junkie I will be purchasing the colour ‘ash.’ All I can hope is that it has good staying power&pigmentation, if so, i will love it!! These liners are individually sold for £3.50 – decent enough price for a mineral product.

Angled Eyeliner Brush:

Could this make applying liquid/gel liner easier? For £3.95 i’m willing to give it a shot!

If you’ve read my blog long enough you’ll know i’m  just not a lippie kinda girl, so nothing really interests me in this section!

I think i’ll go for the mineral translucent powder!

So, have you tried any ELF products, are there any that i’m missing out on? Have you tried any of the products listed? Did you like them? Are there any brands with a similar price range as ELF that you’d recommend me try out? I’m aware of MUA & I will be doing a haul on it too, soon!

Much Love!

Work Question Answered By You

So I have recently gotten a part-time-job. I’m a teenager who just wants to gain a bit of pocket money, so I sent my CV in a load of places and then got interviewed for working in a hairdresser. Basically  what I will be doing is helping out with everything, answering the phone, brushing the floors, washing hair, making tea and coffee etc.

So anyway, I have no idea what appropriate makeup would be for this kind of job? My first proper day is Tuesday, so any makeup tips would be greatly appreciated! Any long-wearing products you know of? Like long-wearing foundation, long-wearing eyeliner etc?

Would love to know about products that have worked for you that stay on all day! Thanks a bunch!

Stephanie x

It’s About Prime!!

So, I will give you a quick explanation of my absence of the past like month! My cousin was staying over for a good week, so couldn’t post then, internet was bummed up for like a week… Annnnnnd, best part, I just got a job! (PartTime but still!) I’m working in a hairdressers helping about the place! Pretty great, so far anyway!

ANYWAY, I’ve been loving Soap & Glory’s  eyeshadow primer(It’s About Prime)! It has been a product that i have kind of used once or twice then just set it aside and forgotten about. But, I decided to give it another shot when my cream shadows were starting to crease.

So, i now use it everyday. One pump and it does both eyes, a little goes a very long way! Sets very quickly as well. I rate it 10/10 and it’s only £8!!

I never liked Urban Decay’s primer potion. Never  worked properly for me, So yeah, this is a cheaper and better alternative! 100% recommend!

I’ll try and post a bit more regularly soon!

Have you tried this primer? Do you like as much as I do? Or have you found any cheaper / alternatives to the muchly raved about Urban Decay primer potion?

Thanks for reading!

My Favourite Look (1)

Hola beauties! So I have been in a bit of a ‘I have no idea what to post about’ problem. Complete mind-blank, which honestly, didn’t think i’d be in so soon… So I was thinking to myself… what would I want to read from a different blog? Reviews?-Done them, but still, on-going. Top 10 favourite products? – Done those as well. I have also gotten to the point where I haven’t posted in so long that whatever I do post, it will have to be good! So, What would I like to read another blogger bog about? (Does this even make sense to you or am i kinda going off on a little tangent?) I’d like to see different looks different people feel the best with. Like their go-to casual/smart look! SO, after all of my thinkings, it’s what i’ve come up with. I have about 3 different ones. I’ll do them each in separate posts! So, without further adieu, My Favourite Look – Winged liner!

Like many many girls I love the blank-face, darkly-lined eyes look. My eyes are a part of moi that I like, so in most of my makeup looks, i try and put focus on my eyes – EMPHASIZE them!! ~Just like how a girl with great lips puts bold lipstick on, or great brows darkens them etc etc etc.

So, I tend to find myself reaching for my eyeliner. I’m more of a liquid/gel fan than i am with pencils – I am yet to find a pencil that is reasonably priced that isn’t going to make me look like a panda at the end of the day!! If you know of any matte pencil liners that don’t smear across your eye throughout the day, please please do tell!

This makeup look is also so simple that you can wear it with a glowey foundation, a matte foundation or just bare skin! Today I decided to wear it with my glowey-skin foundation, ‘Wake me up’ By Rimmel London.
Here are all the products used::::WP_20140713_002

Each of the products used are drugstoreproducts that are pretty easy to get a hold of – a local boots/superdrug if you’re living in the UK, ebay would be your best bet if you’re living else-where and you’re unable to find any of them.

SO, what did I do with these products?

First, (after moisturising of course) I dusted over a light layer of my loose powder with a large fluffy brush. Not so much that it’s caked, but enough so that it has formed a little bit of … mattness(?) to your face. I’ve been doing this for a while now before applying my foundation – as a form of base because I don’t like how primers feel.Iswear, it works just as well as Benefit’s ‘porefessional’ does!

After that, I do one pump of my foundation and massage it in using my hands. I apply to the centre of my face first and then blend it out towards the outside of my face. Because of the powdered-base (i’m assuming, because since I started using it i’ve gotten this result) I only need one pump – a little goes a very long way!!To help blend the foundation in I use my stippling brush (real techniques) and buff it into my face.

Next, I go on to my eyes. I apply a thin layer of the primer to my lids and rub it in gently. Once it has set, I go on to dust over a soft-champagne colour (bourjois 08) onto the lids.

The Catrice light-brown/gray shade is then applied to my crease for a tiny lil bit of definition! 🙂

Next is the tricky part. The bit that drives every girl mad!! The eyeliner. Now, I love eyeliner but, sometimes it is just tooooooooooooooo damn hard to work with! I have however found a way that (i think) makes it a much easier task. Get a pen liner and dip it into your favourite liquid liner! (yes, you could just use a pen liner, but I am yet to find a waterproof one.)So I then go on to do my winged eyeliner with my totally totally genius method!:P

I go on to curl my lashes andthen apply a coat of the thick & fast mascara. Once it has dried, apply the big eyes mascara over it and onto your lower lashes. (I looooooooove this for the lower lashes!!)

I then go back to my face and contour using the darker shade in solar powder and then highlight my chin, nose and upper cheeks using the butterscotch eyeshadow from natural collection.

Blusher is next and my favourite (right now) is my MUA marshmallow! apply a light dusting to the apples of my cheeks and whoala i’m finished!!

Also, If you do happen  to know of any great eyeliners (drugstore) then i’d realllly appreciate you letting me know haha!

Muchhh Loveee,

Maybelline Big Eyes {Falsies}

With maybelline releasing their fourth mascara in their ‘Falsies’ line, I had high expectations for the ‘Big Eyes’ mascara! Boots are doing a buy 1 get the second half price on their products, so I couldn’t help but pick up their newest product. So my mum bought one of their blushers while I picked up the mascara!
Although I love the ‘Falsies Flared’ mascara, it is still the only Falsies that I had tried. I’m kinda trying to use up my products before I get more… yenno, saving money and using up good products! But, when it’s half price, I couldn’t help myself!
So, the product itself is a double-ended one. The top of it for the upper lashes and the bottom one for the bottom lashes. The top brush is a straight-thicker brush while the bottom brush is a smaller, thinner brush. (Image below) It comes in 3 shades – black, waterproof black and brown. I got it in black.
The formula is fabbbb! not too thick and not too… ‘watery’? It applies evenly with no clumps! Makes my upper-lashes pretty damn long (without a lash curler.) I love this for my lower lashes! Probably not my favourite mascara for the upper lashes, but definitely the best one i’ve used on my lower lashes.

These images are with one coat of the mascara.
So i’d give this mascara about a 7/10… Haven’t worn it for a whole day yet, so I don’t know how long it wears for, but yeah, used better ones on my upper-lash-line.
Hope you enjoyed reading! 🙂
