January’s monthly favourites!

So I feel as though I haven’t done monthly favourites in donkeys! I will try and do them each month – I swear! Ok, So let’s get on with it!

Catrice (single eyeshadow) – Starlight Expresso

This little beauty often finds itself in my everyday makeup routine. This is brilliant. Very smooth, easy to blend eyeshadow. This is a very versatile color, it’s great for over the whole lid or in the crease. It doesn’t crease or fade. Amazing quality, it feels like a high-end eyeshadow. This month I have been using this as a lovely transition shade to make my eyes smokey.

Rimmel London Scandal eyes waterproof eyeliner – black

I love this thing! It stays on my eyes all day and blends beautifully! I’d say this is a dupe for Urban Decay’s 24/7 liners too! It applies very easily and is soft & gentle on the water line. It gives a great, highly pigmented colour and lasts so well on the water line- it is definitely waterproof, in fact I struggled to remove it no matter eye make up remover I used! If it was a little easier to use then I would definitely give it 5/5!

Maybelline – Rocket volum’ express mascara

I’ve had mixed feelings about this one. This month I have been using this with a lengthening mascara. This product fulfills most of its promises. It gives lashes volume and length. The good things about this product are the dark black color. Something I don’t like about this mascara is the brush. The bristles on the brush are too short, so I did originally find difficulty in using it! Not a favourite of all my mascaras, but it isn’t as bad as a few other mascaras I have tried!

So next up is my Argan oil shampoo. This made my hair so smooth and soft. Nice enough smell too! I think that it has helped promote hair growth for me and definitely made it look and feel healthier! Brilliant for bringing life back to your hair! Not completely sure which brand this is… soooooo on with the next fave!

L’oreal True Match Foundation

I have been loving this one recently! This one blends in beautifully to my skin! I like to use my hands to blend this into my face and then use a stippling brush (real techniques one) and it is my skin – but better! I 100% recommend this amazing product!

Soap & Glory Bronzer

I have been liking this one for contouring. It is a lovely light colour and perfect for everyday use! Gives me some subtle contouring! I recommend this one for the paler girls!

Collection – work the colour eyeshadow palette

I’ve found that this (For £2.99 on sale) is sooo worth it – no, worth more! It has 3 different kind of shades. all over lid shades, the crease and the outer- V of your eyes. I really like this for every day looks and does a gorgeous smokey-eye! Deffo worth a try!

I could talk to you about allll the products that i’ve been loving this month, but we may be here quite a while!

So, I’d love to know the products you’ve been loving! I’m actually hitting the shops on Sunday, so if you do recommend anything I like the sound of I can pick it up! Thanks for reading my post & Hope you have a brilliant weekend! 🙂

Clearing your skin!

I’ve noticed recently that my skin has improved like crazy! I’ve never been one who had acne prone skin, but I would get the occasional break out! So, I thought i’d quickly share my tips with you and see if they maybe help you too!

I drink lots more water now! It keeps my skin, mind and body hydrated!

I moisturise day and night with a cucumber moisturiser

Take off your face makeup at night time!

Before applying my foundation I would moisturise.

When I feel as though I am going to be breaking out (you know that weird feeling your skin gets) I like to use tea tree oil on my face!

My face is OK when it comes to spots. However, I do find that I get quite a few on my back. Have you got any tips on this? Would be really helpful if you could give me some tips!

Thanks for reading! And look out for some new how-tos on my page! 🙂

LUSH Review

So I did a wee haul a while ago including my The Body Shop products and LUSH products. Today i’ll be telling ya about what I think of the 2 products I have tried so far – the ‘Ultimate Shine Shampoo’ (round yellow product) and ‘Santas Lip Scrub’ (red tub).

I’m going to give you my honest opinion. I am disappointed. The lip scrub is messy and doesn’t really hydrate or even do much to my lips… It’s not what I thought it would be to be honest. You hear nothing but raves about these products, I don’t know, maybe this is just a dud product within the lip scrub range. Maybe the other ones are better, but I don’t think i’ll be running to try out the other ones!

And the shampoo bar? I am disappointed. This makes my hair kinda dry and frizzy… My hair will also get greasy the next day (which it doesn’t typically do) so kinda a bum product. Not for my hair type let’s just say. I won’t stop using this – I like to finish my shampoo products off – whether they are good or bad! But this without a doubt doesn’t compete at all with my Argan oil shampoo mentioned in the previous post.

So all-in-all, after the products being sent 3 weeks late I was very disappointed in LUSH. Such a raved about brand and all I have gotten so far is disappointment. Yet, I do remain hopeful for the other shampoo bar (soak & float) and the bath bomb (the little penguin). I will keep you posted on that once I try the products out.

LUSH vs The Body Shop

Hi there! So I am a person that believes that healthy skin, nails, hair etc. are a hugeee factor of feeling beautiful. Like, a bad-hair day, I don’t know about you, but I’m embarrassed to go out the door! So, I definitely believe that we should all give our body some loveeeeee … no not like that – With nice products!

Honestly, The body shop and LUSH are a bit too expensive for me to buy on a regular basis. I know that you can get some lovely products for much cheaper. That’s why the first time that I have ever gotten myself some products for ME was on boxing day – the boxing day sales! I’ll start with The Body Shop … seeing as it was the first delivery to arrive at my house I think it’s only fair! 😛

WP_20150116_005 (1)

The two little tubs you can see to the left are the ‘Born Lippy™ Pot Lip Balm’ in ‘raspberry’ and ‘watermellon’. The two bottles next to these are the ‘Rainforrest shampoo’ one for dry hair and the other for greasy. Lastly, to the far right is the ‘Chocomania™ Body Butter’.

The Lip balms are gorgeous. They go on so smoothly and the flavour is amazing. I love the watermellon one – I find it so odd! Both balms leave a shine-finish … kinda like a gloss to be honest. I do recommend these and I can’t wait to try out the different flavours! The cost is £2. I’m not so sure about whether these are overly hydration or not, but still a lovely product to have on yo lips!

I’m yet to try out the shampoos so I won’t be reviewing them!

The body butter is a weird one. It is literally as hard as butter. I’ve never used a product like this one. When I am using this, I get a small bit and rub it onto the tips of my fingers until it has melted (like butter), then I apply it to the skin. The smell is amazing and I must say that it is deeply hydrating. I do recommend this one, but only as a luxury product… £1.50 for a littttllleeee amount of product.. I’m not sure if that can be classed as “affordable”.

Next is LUSH, I was sooooo disappointed in LUSH. I have heard only good things about this brand so I went in expecting the best service ever. I ordered my products on the 26th and received by delivery on the 12th of January. 3-5 day delivery my ass! But, I shall tell you about the products.

The little penguin is ‘The Christmas Penguin’ – £1.62

The 3 circular bars are the ‘Soak & Float’ and 2 bars ‘Ultimate Shine’ shampoo – £2.87

The little pot is the ‘Santa’s Lip Scrub’ – £2.75

The green dome is the ‘Sugar Scrub’ – £1.47

The sale prices are brilliant – hence me buying them. I’ve only used 3 so far, so I’ll tell you about them each.

The Lip scrub is good. I like the taste – cola flavour. I do find it messy to apply/use and I’m not sure if I find the balm once the sugar is away hydrating. However, I have only used it like 3 times so I can’t realllly say much about it yet… Who knows, it could be my January/February favourite! 😛

I used the exfoliating dome in the shower. I found that it is good for getting rid of rough skin – yes after just one use. But, I find that applying it and rubbing it in with the dome- like how it recommends, it is kinda sore! So I apply it using the dome, then rub it in using my hands! It definitely does exfoliate you well though!

Finally, saving the best for last, the solid shampoo. This claims to last up to 80 washes. That is the same as 3 250ml shampoo bottles. I kinda doubt this, but I will keep you posted on that one! I like that this is easy to rub in, it smells nice and it leaves my hair feeling squeeky clean. However, I think that the novelty of using a bar of shampoo may be a hugeeeeeee contributing factor of why people love these so much…. I mean, It left my hair feeling squeeky clean, not hydrated or nourished. Some people may argue with this and say that I should use their bar-conditioners too, but I have had past experience with these and honestly, I found them waxy and very difficult to get any product out of them!

I hope you enjoyed reading my little review-type-thing! Do you recommend any body shop/LUSH products? Do you think they’re over-hyped? Do you think they are worth the hype/ money? I’d love to know what you think!

Argan oil Shampoo

So everybody and their mother has heard about Argan oil in the past year. The ginormous claims to saving your hair that it has. Argan Oil has been said to be one of the most promising, independent products of the cosmetic industry within the past year. Companies producing this argan oil – and the brands that sell it have claimed that it will “fix all hair problems.” That it will, “leave dry frizz behind and say hello to your new silky smooth hair after just 1 use of argan oil.”

However, “No hair product can change the hair’s biology,” says Eric Bone, senior VP of global research and innovation @ L’Oreal USA. “Products that ‘repair’ them are like glue used to put a broken vase back together. At the end of the day, it’s still broke,” says dermatologist Paul J. McAndrews, MD, a clinical professor @ the University of Southern California School of Medicine. “Overall, products are a temporary fix, although some can help prevent damage. But your best bet is really to stop damaging hair, period.” That kinda makes sense though, right? You obviously can’t fix something that’s torn apart, but you can make it look better ( Much easier to get a trim and start fresh if you ask me though)

So, after considering both sides of the situation – is argan oil really as good as people claim, or is it just the next bandwagon to jump onto? My sister brought me back a little bottle of Pure Moroccan Argan oil from her trip to Morocco. I am still yet to properly test it out, not going to lie to you! I’m not really sure what to do with the pure oil. I find oils difficult to wash out, leaving my hair feeling heavy and unclean, clearly not the finish I want when washing my hair!

However, I got this product in my stocking last Christmas. 285278-Argan-Oil-Shampoo-250ml

I have used this every hair wash since. What are my thoughts? I love it. Yep, I admit, I love it! It leaves my hair with a silky smooth finish, I can now go 3 days in between washes until my hair is greasy. This lathers up beautifully and I don’t even have to use too much product! I do recommend this product to everyone! I usually do have frizzy, wirey hair after using different shampoos, but when using this one it is like a different head of hair!

I am not saying this has ‘cured’ me or whatever, I’m just saying, it does what it says on the tin. I don’t expect my hair to stay in this condition once I move to a different shampoo and I will continue experimenting with different shampoos because I feel as though I still haven’t found the one that best suits me!

Good wee shampoo though and I definitely recommend for you to try it out. It costs around the £2 mark, so it’s definitely affordable as well.

Have you tried out any argan oil products yet? What did you think of them and do you recommend any for me to try out? Hope you enjoyed reading my little post!

2 good 2 bad – MUA

MUA is a brand that I like to experiment with. From what I remember, it was one of the first brands that I properly used. This brand appeals to younger people as the price range is so low. However, I firmly believe that some of its products are very comparable to higher-end products. Examples of this are urban decay, benefit etc. Todays post, like the previous ‘1 good 1 bad’ will have to be more than just 1, simply because there are so many that I recommend, likewise, ones that I do not.

So, let’s start with the good, shall we?

Eye Shadow Palettes:

images (1)download (14)88405808578868842049028126

Left- right

Undressed, undress me too, Heaven and earth, matte

Each of these palettes cost £4. 12 shadows for £4 – that’s amazing!

The ‘undressed’ palette is a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked palette. I must admit, I am yet to find use for each of the shades. However, they are beautifully pigmented and the colours in it are gorgeous!

The ‘undress me too’ palette is one that I love! There’s only one shade that is rubbish, but this may just be because I got a bad palette. It’s the black shade on the far right. It just comes out chalky and unpigmented. Each of these shades are so beautiful. I love the far left handside. You must try this one out!

The ‘heaven and earth’ palette is also gorgeous. Really lovely neutral shades. There are shimmers, sparkles and possibly a matte one in there too!

Finally, the ‘matte’ palette is brilliant. I love this for base shades. It is gorgeous with shimmer being mixed with this. Not much more to say. Just lovely palettes.

My 2 favourites of these is the matte palette and the undress me too.

I’ve tried 3 of these blushers. These 2 are called ‘Lolly’ and ‘Marshmallow’

download (15) muastore_marshmallow-open

Lolly is a lovely coral shade that I love to wear in the summer. Marshmallow is the bright pink shade that can be blended into a beautiful light pink. For £1, why not?!

2 Bad:

Mascara: Extreme curl

This mascara was £1, so no major loss. I can’t stand the formula I found it drying and flakey. Not nice!

Liquid Liner

This is rubbish. The applicator is flimsy, the fluid is flakey and it just chips off throughout the day. £1, but still, not a nice product.

I love MUA. Good brand. I will continue trying out their products. Apparently they’ve been releasing new products recently, so I will try them out and let you know what I think about the products!

Thanks for reading 🙂
