February Favourites

February has been surprisingly long but it’s still crazy that tomorrow will be March! I looked through my makeup bag and what i’ve been particularly been loving this month. So here’s a wee post about my favourites!

Eye Products:

Maybelline The Great Lash Mascara: I love this. It gives me perfect length and volume and makes my lashes have such a lovely and natural! It’s not OTT with one or two layers, but it can give big exaggerated eyes too with a few layers!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes: This is sooo not over rated. I love this for having a wee smokey eye!

NYC brow pencil: I’ve found myself using this one for the mornings that I just want a quick filled-in brow. It takes like 2 seconds each brow and I kinda dash it into my brows.

Maybelline gel liner: After fixing this formula with the eye drops (I explain it in an earlier post) I’ve gone back to this favourite! It is so easy to apply, wears all day and is perfect for the tight line too!

Makeup Gallery: Smoothly does it pressed powder  ‘Natural Beige 2′ I use this for both my face and my eyelids! It is so perfect, takes away any oils on my face and just leaves it looking nice and natural too!

Face Products

Rimmel: Match Perfection I’ve been using this one almost every morning. It leaves such a flawless, but more importantly a, natural finish! Great base!

Makeup Gallery Blusher: This looks like very bright and kinda intimidating (to me anyway!)  but it does give a nice little tint to my cheeks!

Sleek Face Form kit: I’ve just been using the contour powder and the highlight in this one! They are both so beautiful when they’re dusted on… I like this! 🙂

Casual Chic Makeup Look

Hallo my makeup friendies! I was recently asked by a follower to include more 1st hand images of my products and what they look like on me etc. which got me more motivated to try and fix whatever the error my memory card was having with transferring images! All sorted now so hopefully more photos!

So I thought the first thing i’d do with my own photos would be a wee makeup look!

It’s a very simple eye look with some lovely dark lips! – A look that I have been loving lately! So, enough of this intro and on with the look!

IMG_5424

Above are the majority of the products used to achieve the look. I think i’ll call it ‘casual chic’ (Just because I like titles, eh?)

So basically what you can see is

eyeshadow by Paddy Mcgurgan in shade 439

Maybelline – ‘The Great Lash Mascara’

Maybelline – Colour Drama ‘Keep it classy’

NYC – Brow/eyeliner ‘925 Sable’

Makeup Gallery – Smoothly does it pressed powder  ‘Natural Beige 2’

Paddy Mcgurgan – Concealer ‘light 2’

**NOT in photo**

Rimmel London – Exaggerate full colour lip liner ‘057 Ravish’

The majority of these products are actually recently bought ones, but I will be doing a HUGE review at some point (soon) as I just bought like 60+ makeup brushes too!!

So, here is a wee finished picture of my eyes::

and of my lips::

IMG_5427

I’d have one of my whole face but the camera was just going too blurry!

So basically, What did I do to get this look?

  • Firstly I moisturised – The most important step of every makeup look in my opinion!
  • Once the moisturser had set I got some of the very thick concealer and put it on my finger. I then put the product from my finger onto my wrist (This helps to warm the product up and make it much easier to apply). I then used my ring finger to apply this product under my eye as it is so light in colour and really brightens them up!
  • I then just stroked on some of the brown pencil onto the brows and then brushed the product in using a brow brush / spooli
  • Next I applied the pressed powder all over my face with a large fluffy brush. Make sure that you put some on your eyelids too to absorb any oils which will give the eyeliner a much smoother application and will help prevent any creasing throughout the day
  • After this I applied the eyeliner. It was just a very thin line ontop of my upper lashes and a small little flick at the outside of my eyes
  • Once semi-satisfied with my liner I then got a small fluffy brush to apply the neutral brown/purple/gray shadow to my crease. This helps to add some interest to the eyes. I really like adding a soft colour to my crease when wearing liner.
  • To finish off my lashes I curled them with my eyelash curler and coated them with 1 layer of the Maybelline mascara shown above! This is perfect for both length and volume!
  • Next I got my lip liner and lined my lips. Be sure to start from the inside and slowly go towards the corners of the lips. – It is just a much better way to prevent going over your natural lip line… unless that’s what you want!
  • Once happy with the shape of my lips I applied the lipstick by maybelline. I LOVE this colour and think it’s just the perfect nude. In this picture my lips look more bold than nude, but that’s simply because of the liner!

So I hope you enjoyed reading! Sorry about the fact that I don’t have a complete-face picture! Gotta work out the stupid camera! I think this look is perfect for every day and can be adapted to your preferences – like a nude lip would look good too, as would no lip products at all!

Hope to be posting again soon with a hugeee haul and it’s nearly the end of the month and I am sooooo doing monthly favourites every month this year, so look out for that one too!

Much love,

Maybelline – Great Lash

17-Wow-123

This one costs £4.99.

I automatically assumed it was going to be rubbish because maybelline mascaras are usually around the £8 mark but I am very very pleasantly surprised!

This has such a nice formula. I got the waterproof one, but it does come in normal as well. This is brilliant for holding my curl, lengthening my lashes AND giving me some volume too!

This is also one of the few mascaras that i’m ok with using on my lower lashes! I think this is perfect for whoever, but a must have for a teenager’s makeup bag!

(I have a few more reviews to be doing soon, so keep your eye out for my drugstore makeup haul!)

Thanks for reading! 🙂

The Starting Over Tag

So i’ve read a few different bloggers doing the ‘starting over tag’ on this site and it got me thinking I could do it too!

So pretty much the deal is Imagine you wake up one morning and all your makeup and skincare has disappeared… after the initial shock and very justified fit of rage, which 16 products would you buy immediately?

After the initial heart attack that I would be having at the discovery of all my makeup being stolen I would hit the shops and buy these 16 must-haves

L’oreal true match – A nice buildable foundation that matches my freaky pale skin. One of the few brands that does this too!

Rimmel Match Perfection – A nice everyday foundation that also has a lot of skin colour ranges! It also comes at a decent price too!

Collection sheer loose powder – This is one of the few powders that comes light enough! (That’s all I can say for foundations!) it gives a great light feeling to the skin.

Rimmel Scandal eyes black liner – This is nice as a plain black liner. It’s nice blended out and it’s even easy to blend, or even just the way it is once it’s applied

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner – I love this stuff. Tightlining is perfect with this and I love it for my upper lash line too!

Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Smokey Mascara – This one is perfect for both volume and length and it just makes you feel fab when wearing it!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – This is very similar to the smokey mascara, but I feel it leaves a nicer curl in the lashes!

MUA Undress me too palette – This is a dupe for the Naked 2 palette and I love every shade in the palette! BUT, the black isn’t at all pigmented!

MUA ‘Ever After’ palette – Perfect neutral palette. I wear it mostly as a base – I highly recommend this one to any of you girlsss!

Rimmel Scandal eyes black eye liner – I wear this one on my upper lid and I blend it out!

MAC paint pot – chrome angel – Perfect base for any eyeshadows! Also, the pale colour brings out the colour in all eyeshadows!

Sleek contour kit – light – I love this and I can’t go out without having either a bit of highlighter, contour or both! I love the finish that it gives and the pigmentation too!

Boots cucumber moisturising cream – This is my new favourite moisturiser. So cheap – like £1.49 and it makes my skin feel fantastic and it smells so nicey nice!

No.7 blend and contour eye brush – I can’t wear any eyeshadow without this one! It really blends the harsh lines out in the eyeshadow and gives you such a beautiful finish!

Real Techniques stippling brush – I love this to buff out my foundation. Makes any foundation look natural!

Real Techniques foundation brush – This is a must have for applying the foundation, unlike to stippling brush which is a must have for blending it in!

Tricky tag, there are a lot of ‘essentials’ in my makeup collection! Hope you enjoyed my lil post! Thanks a billion for reading!

Makeup tip and a food tip!

So I have found a few new tips recently and I can’t help but to share them with you! One is an unbelievable makeup tip and one is an unreal recipe!

So i’ll start with the makeup tip seeing as this is a makeup blog, eh?

So, I loved my maybelline gel liner. It was easy to apply, fab pigment, lasted all day and was easy to blend! But about 2 months later it began to dry out. So sad that it did! So I looked around and thought about different ways that I could fix it. AND I found one!

So all you need is a tooth pick and eye drops!

Whatcha gotta do is drop 2-3 drops in the pot and then mix it in with the toothpick. So easy and so quick and it is just as good as new!

AND For my food tip!

Chocolate brownie in a mug is something that I have tried a few times and always ended up being disappointed. HOWEVER, I found a recipe that I just HAVE to share with you guys!

Ingredients (Other than a mug!)

  • 4 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 8 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • dash of salt
  • drop of vanilla extract
  • 4 teaspoons of water
  • 8 teaspoons of plain flour
  • 4 teaspoons of butter

Now for the instructions:

  1. Add the butter to your mug and pop it into the microwave until it is melted. Just keep checking this one. Different microwaves will take different lengths of time. Mine personally took about 40 seconds.
  2. Next add the water and the wee drop of vanilla to the mug and mix it with a spoon.
  3. Add the salt and stir in the other ingredients one by one until it’s a nice batter. Ensure there are no lumps of dry ingredients in the batter!
  4. Now it’s microwave time! You put it in for about 60-90 seconds. I put it in for about 70!
  5. Lastly you remove it carefully and allow it to cool for about a minute and then you enjoy!

I promise that this is amazing and you should definitely try it out! If you do and you enjoy it just as much as I did, please sendus a wee picture of your final outcome! This can be for all you lovely lovely people on Valentines day! Such an indulgent dish!

LUSH – My Christmas Purchase Review

Hello friendies! I know it’s been quite a while since I last posted! Can you believe it’s February already?! I know I can’t! February is the month of Valentines day too… I’m a little bit worried, it’s less than a week away and I need to get my boyfriend’s gift sorted too! (Maybe post a few ideas to help a sister out?)

But anyway, I am not posting today because of valentines day, I’m posting about the lil haul that I did back in December… no wait, it was January. If you don’t recall, it took my delivery over 3 weeks to arrive (3-5 days my arse!) But, I was willing to forgive! So, let’s remind ourselves what i got!

LUSH

I know I have previously done a wee quick review on this, but after using them each (apart from the bubble bath obviously) for about a month, I think i have a more formed review!

So, I’ll talk to you about the lil penguin bubble bath thingy first!

I have never been so soft in my life. I felt amazing until my next wash! Skin has never been softer! Even my boyfriend noticed! I was very pleased with this and I will purchase again – yenno, when the price goes down a bit, I mean, I’m not going to spend like £3 for one bath..!

The exfoliator is difficult to use in my opinion, but once you find a way that suits you I think very highly of it! I use this about once or twice a week on my legs and it gets rid of any kind of flaky/dead skin! Makes yo legs nice and saft!

The shampoos are ok… I think honestly, I prefer my £1 argan oil shampoo from savers though… I just find that I don’t feel as though my hair is properly washed when using this. Also, the one with the wheat smells really bad!!

Lastly is the lipscrub. It’s ok I guess. I used this when I had very dry lips and it did help make them smoother! The taste is nice… I may try the other lipscrubs as I do hear much better reviews from them!

So all-in-all, not too bad LUSH, not too bad!

Now just for a wee chat with you!

Because Valentine’s day is coming up I think i might do some makeup ideas? I will probably be doing little gift ideas too!

Thanks for reading friendy!

LOVE your LIPS (for less than a fiver!)

We do a lot with our lips. We smile to show we’re happy, we kiss to show we love and we eat because … well… food’s nice! There is nothing more unattractive (in my opinion) than someone – anyone – with chapped dry lips! I donno about you, but I wouldn’t want to kiss someone with flakey lips like these! –

17-Wow-1

So I’m gonna talk to you about how I care for my lips!

Lips can become chapped or dry when they are exposed to the sun, wind, and cold or dry air. A lip balm containing petroleum or beeswax will provide a barrier and help seal in moisture. It is soooo important that you don’t bite this skin off! It’s also tempting to keep licking dry or cracked lips. However, this will only dry your lips more, as the saliva evaporates and the repeated licking or wetting “washes” the natural grease (the essential grease) off the skin.

What do I do when I have dry lips?

Recently I have had bad dry lips. But I have used products to fix this, and, they have! So lemmie tell you about what I like! Also , me being the ‘cheapskate’ that I am, I will only be recommending the cheaper (less that a fiver) products to you!

images (6) Makijaż ust Einstein lip therapy balsam pielęgnujący do ust 3,16g

Carmex and einstein lip therapy are both very similar products. They both feel as though they are kinda ‘burning’ the skin away! If your lips are chapped, these are the products to use! After about 3 applications, the chapped skin will be gone!!

Nivea’s lip butter & The body shop’s Lip butter are both really indulgent products. I find that these are really nice to wear throughout the day. If your lips are feeling slightly dry, these will definitely bring you moisture! The products are both thick and creamy. I find that the nivea product is slightly more light/ liquidy on the lips while the body shop’s ones are thick and remain that way on the lips! I love both of these products and they both come in delicious flavours! However, I find that if your lips are properly chapped, these won’t do as good a job as the two lip treatments named above.

EOS lip balm and Chaptick are the kinda products that I apply simply because I hate not having a product on my lips. The flavours are basically the only reason why I use these. I don’t find that they do much for my lips… like they don’t treat/ moisturise them. Both have certain products with SPF, so I guess that’s something! But, I do love the flavour choice in both brands, so I will continue to use them – just not for properly treating my lips. I do find though, If I am wearing these when my lips are smooth, they will stay smooth… In comparison to if i’m not wearing any lip product, they might dry out! Also, these are nice as a base for lip sticks… they are nice for matte lipsticks (Ones that dry the lips out!)

images (7)

Vaseline is one of the best known lip products. I find that this one just really isn’t for me. Not for my lips anyway! I think it is too oily for my lips… I just hate my lips feeling so greasy! Each of the different products that Vaseline offer have the same texture, so I just avoid these! BUT, I do apply this to my dry patches of skin like by elbows or even the heel of my feet at night time! It’s deeply moisturising for the skin, but I find it does very little for my lips!

download (21)

LUSH’s Lip Scrubs are what I use for when my lips are really chapped. I use this when the lips are flakey. I would apply this first and then moisturise my lips with a deeply moisturising balm! I don’t think this is any good for when your lips are just feeling a bit dry, but when your lips are properly flaking, this is brilliant! I’ve only used the santa lipscrub, but I have heard that the other products within this range are better? But, I’m happy enough with this one I guess!

So I hope you enjoyed reading and maybe even will pick up one of the products that i’ve recommended! And maybe you could recommend to me some good lip products that I should try out! Love your lips guys!
