Newlook Makeup Haul

So today I was at the local mall and decided to look about in New Look! And to my surprise they now have their own makeup range! So, I couldn’t help but pick up a few products! So I got 3 lipsticks and 2 lip liners. Each lipstick costs £3.99 and each liner, £1.99! There are about 12 lipstick shades available and i’d say about 6 lip liners.

So, let’s see!

70 Pink > 67 Burgundy > 74 Deep Pink

The lipstick is so lovely! It is so creamy and so pigmented! So impressive for something so cheap! I like the packaging, however, the shape of the product itself is a bit odd, it kind of dips in in the middle, making it slightly awkward to apply to the lips. But, I hope that after a few uses it will even out like a normal lipstick. I got 2 nude shades and one lovely red.

The last 2 swatches are the lip liners.

The lip liners are much drier, but I love how they apply! I love the pencil itself and they are also so pigmented. Really great lip liners! I hope to pick up a more nude one in the future. Annoyingly the coloured end on the pencil got sucked into the lid, on the red pencil, when I put the lid on the end… does that make sense? and I find that annoying, but other than that, good product!

Here’s the lip liner, 61 and deep pink lipstick on my lips!

June Favourites

Am I seriously writing my favorites for June already?!! Half the year is finished?! What even! So, I hope you all had a brilliant month and are looking forward to July. I love July as it feels the most Summery to me, plus it’s my Birthday in July! So, look out for Birthday Makeup posts!

But anyway, What did I enjoy in June?

I’ve been loving my It’s about Prime primer from Soap & Glory (£8). I prefer to use liquidy primers as a base during the summer months instead of creamy bases. I feel liquid primers tend to just stay on the lids longer than thicker cream ones without creasing. This is also such a gorgeous shimmery base which brings a lovely summer glow to all your eyeshadow looks! (It’s not in the picture above… oops!)

For my eyeliner i’ve been using the collection kohl eyeliner (£1.99) smudged into my waterline and the Collection 24 hour felt tip (£2.99) to line my upper lash line. This is so easy to do a thick or thin line and it stays all day as long as it doesn’t get wet!

Maybelline Brow drama sculpting mascara (£4.99) is brilliant. It fills in the blank gaps in my brows and sets them in place with a little hint of colour.

w7 in the nude eyeshadow palette (£5) is such a lovely palette. I use this for all kinds of looks! My favorite shades are the first one, the fourth, the seventh and the eleventh. They are lovely nude grayish warm shades. I suck at describing colours (sorry!). I’ll soon post up a few different looks you can get with these shadows.

Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation (£6.99) has been a perfect one for me this Summer. It has such a natural finish on my skin. I have the lightest shade available. This doesn’t look at all cakey and it just evens everything out perfectly! I like to apply this with my kabuki stippling brush!

Soap & Glory Solar Powder (£11) is the best bronzer that I have ever used. It is perfect for my pale skin. I only really use the highlighter side along with the contour side because it is so natural… but if you want a reallllllly subtle glow it is perfect!

IMG_6209 IMG_6208

For concealer I’ve been using this really pale pale pale concealer. I’m not really sure what the brand is, I think it’s makeup store. This is so thick and is the palest I’ve ever seen a makeup product! I dab this onto my skin and blend it out with the tiny stippling brush. I would apply this is a browbone highlight, above my lips and on the top of my cheekbone. It is such a natural look. I highly recommend a light concealer to all pale girls!

Kate Moss 08

For my lips i’ve been loving Kate Moss 08 Lasting Finish Lipstick £5.49 because it is such a perfect nude for me! It’s like a dusky pinky purple nude. So lovely!

This lipscrub from LUSH is so nice! I think I bought it for about £2.50, but the lipscrubs are typically £5.75. This is a cola flavour which is so tasty! Basically it smooths out your lips making your lipstick apply so smoothly!

So those are my monthly favourites of June! Hope you enjoyed reading! 🙂

Eyeshadow you NEED!

Just a quick post about an eyeshadow that I use everyday. Whether it be my natural everyday eye, my smokey eye or a dramatic eye. This is a perfect crease colour and also an above-the-crease shade to add a brilliant smokeyness! This costed about £5 and has lasted me 2 years! This is in Starlight Expresso. Any soft brown/gray shadow will do the trick though! Here are a few pictures where this product has been used:

In my Summer Routine: Cream Blushers!

I don’t know why, but I always seem to be reaching for my cream blushers in the Summer. I love the dewy finish that you tend to get with these cream blushers! I own 2, one from Topshop and the other from Maybelline.

IMG_6182 IMG_6183

Topshop Cream Blush – ‘FLUSH’ £7

Personally, I prefer to apply this with my fingers and then blend it in with a dense blending brush! But, the only problem with that is that I find it can get a bit dirty, I would get a baby wipe and swipe any dirt/dust out. This adorable packaging is so convenient, there’s a mirror on the lid and it’s a click-close product. This lasts for absolute ages too! It has such a high pigmentationI adore this blush for summer; it has the perfect natural dusky pink to it, it’s easy to blend, and the pigmentation is brilliant – not too subtle, yet not too powerful and bright either. So for £7 I think this is the perfect product for you to keep in your handbag! Such good quality for such a low price!

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Blusher – ‘PLUM’ £6.49

This cream blusher is sooo nice! I don’t like the packaging, if i’m honest. It’s so awkward a small glass tub which is chunky? Does that make sense? The product is so pigmented though. So soft to apply and leaves your cheeks with such a beautiful flush of colour! Like the topshop blusher, I apply it to my cheeks with my finger tips and blend it in with a dense stippling brush!

IMG_6185L>R> Topshop & Maybelline

two swatches of how beautiful these two are! I’m also hoping to buy a few more cream blushers for the Summer, so if you have any nice recommendations, I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading friend! 🙂

Pressed vs loose powder

Face powders. Why do we need them? There are so many reasons! While everyone wants to glow, nobody wants to look greasy, and powder is a great fix for this as it is a mattifier.

Powder on top of your liquid or cream foundation helps to set it so that it won’t migrate into any lines or slide down off your face. Certain powders can also reduce the look of fine lines and pores. Powder is also the perfect base for your bronzer, blusher etc. You can also use powder to set cream eyeshadow, turn down the volume on a blusher that is too bright/ too pigmented and give a slippery lip color more staying powder.

So there are 2 forms of powder: Pressed and loose. These 2 are very similar, but they’re sisters – Not twins!

Loose powder comes in a tub, has smaller particles (and therefore a finer consistency), and usually give a more ‘lightweight’ coverage. They’re also messy and hard to transport, so these belong in the makeup drawer, not the bag!

Pressed powder comes in a compact. Because the particles are slightly bigger and contain these stick-together ingredients, applying too much pressed powder can result in a cake-y appearance. Using a little as a touch-up throughout the day, though, is quick and easy. This product tends to be in every girl’s makeup bag!

I’m not a huge fan of pressed powder. I find it much too cakey on my skin, so I tend to just stick to the loose powder used in the morning! So here are my favourite 2:

Collection Sheer Loose Powder translucent 2 £2.99

Maybelline Fit Me Powder Nude Beige £5.99

The Collection Sheer Loose Powder is the perfect powder for the pale skinned girls! It sets the foundation without you looking cakey. I use a large fluffy brush, by real techniques, to apply this.

Meanwhile I use the Maybelline Fit me powder throughout the day if i’m feeling a bit oily. Usually around my tzone! I use a powder sponge to apply this. The packaging of this is so handy as it can hold a sponge underneath. There’s a little mirror too underneath, which doesn’t get dirty because it’s not above the powder… yenno? Also, unlike loooaads of powders, this hasn’t broken yet!
