Quick Tip #2

So after getting the positive feedback on my last ‘Quick Tip’ post (read here) I’ve decided to do another! Who knows – might even make it a regular thing!

So, the topic of this tip? BROWS.

Brows are so important. They complete any makeup look. I honestly think, you could get your whole face done and do it all so carefully etc, but you can look incomplete and almost weird if you forget about your brows!

I’ve never been happy with my brows – I have horrendous caterpillars!! But, recently I have shaped them into a way that I’m quite pleased with!

So, anyway this is supposed to be a quick tip, so I will stop with the long intro!

BASICALLY, if you need to reshape your brows, here’s what I recommend doing!:

  1. Let your brows grow out – this means stay away from the tweezers for about 3-4 weeks.
  2. Once they are really messy, get your brow powder & angled brush and create the shape you would like by drawing over your brows.
  3. Now it’s the sore part – pluck all those pesky stray hairs that aren’t in the shape you created with the powder. Stay well away from whatever has been covered by the colour.
  4. You should now have completed your brows! A nice clean finish is brilliant, but some of us have horrendously long brow hairs. If this bothers you, what you need next is to get your baby wipe and wipe off what you just drew on. You then get a spooli and brush the brow hairs up. Get a pair of scissors (ones that you have control over so the smaller the better!) This part is going to be hard to explain, so i’ll have to try my best. The top of your brows (like where you want the top of the brows to be naturally – not where the top of them brushed up(???) will be the part that you snip. This will take away the excess length and will keep them tidy. This step is very risky, so if you have a shaky hand or are even too nervous, i’d say skip it!

So if you are confused about any of these steps don’t be afraid to ask! Hope i’ve helped and here are a few pictures of my brows after I shaped them today! Please note how difficult it is to keep both your eyebrows level when taking a photo?!!

Quick Tip!

So this isn’t going to be a long post, but definitely a helpful one!
In January I did work placement at a makeup artist’s shop. (Awful experience, but let’s skip that!!) I learnt this tip there.
Basically, when you are in a rush and you see your favourite makeup brush is dirty, you don’t need to panic! You don’t need to do the whole washing-your-brush routine with the warm, soapy water! Basically what you need is:
-a baby wipe
-your dirty makeup brushes
-a dry towel
So basically you get your clean makeup wipe/ baby wipe and just swirl your brush over it. Do this until no more product is coming off! Next just lightly swirl your clean brush on the dry towel until you’re happy with how dry the brush is. Annnnd voilà! Clean brush in a minute!! Obviously this shouldn’t be the routine you do all the time, just a quick-fix!:)
Hope this helped!:)

What do you think?

So I enjoy doing series’ on this because I often am absolutely clueless about what to write about! There’s the monthly favourites each month, but then what? To make your blog memorable and unique it’s best to have your own way of doing things. Some beauty bloggers do ‘weekly roundups’, some do different kinds of hauls and the list goes on!

But then what about all the other bloggers?! They post poems, stories and just fill you in on what they’ve been doing day-to-day! I would at some stage maybe like to do a little bit about my life and what my hobbies are, what I do in my spare time… maybe even a little bit about my past and even what I hope to do in the future?!

So what different series’ have I done?

Well i’ve done the my top 5, which I think many people enjoyed! I’ve done a few tutorials and different ‘looks of the day’ also.

What am I thinking of doing?

Well, for the typical beauty part of my blog, I’m thinking of doing whole collections: Lipglosses, eyeshadows etc. I would be showing the different products that I have gotten over the years and what I think of them/ if i’d recommend them etc. Maybe more looks, what I do with different products – like 5 looks using the maybelline colour tattoo shadows.

But i’ve been considering doing the more lifestyle posts too, things including the likes of:

  • fashion
  • hairstyles
  • recipes
  • art
  • music
  • teenage-related-ramblings
  • books
  • photography
  • school

I have so many stories to tell, things that you might enjoy reading too! I completely understand if it’s more just the beauty-related posts that you’re interested in, after all, that is what i’ve been doing for the past year. So I will continue to do my beauty blogging, but maybe keep an eye out for the wider range of topics that I will be doing in the near future!

If you have any suggestions about what you would like to read from me, I would be really grateful to hear them! Whether this be about beauty, life or just completely random, I’m dying to hear what you would want to read!! 🙂

Look out for my changes! I hope to hear from you, thanks for reading this rambley post! And here’s a little sample of what my photography posts may look like!:

July Favourites

So it is nearing the end of the month, so that can only mean one thing: MONTHLY FAVOURITES! So this month was probably the easiest month this year for me to choose my favourite products! I say this because it was my Birthday on the 11th, so I received a few lovely things and haven’t put them down the whole month!! So, let’s get cracking, eh?

So I’ll start with the ‘other‘ section in this monthly favourites. I was given a gift from my friend. This was a LUSH gift set and I LOVE everything in it! 2 two products that I just HAVE to rave about this month are the rose jam shower gel and the Ro’s argan body conditioner. These both smell like turkish delight and I just love it! Because these were both given in the gift set, i’m really not sure on the prices. The Rose Jam lathers up so easily and it just leaves a wonderful, lasting scent on your body – something which I love in a shower gel! The Ro’s Argan body conditioner is amazing! This is like an in-shower moisturiser. My skin has never felt softer after using these products in the shower!

Next up in the Got 2 Be Powder’ful. This is like a powdered hair spray. This sells at £4.19 and is so easy to use too! I tend to stay away from hair spray, simply because it’s so expensive and I tend to use way too much. This product is a complete game changer though. I got it in the local chemist for about £3.50. The first time I used this I put some of the powder on my hands, rubbed my hands together and kind of ‘plumped up’ my hair. It created such a subtle bit of volume and held it ALL day. WOW. So, the second time I used it I wanted a more crazy wild kinda look, so I sprinkled it directly onto the roos of my hair and WOW. Immense volume and again, it lasted all day. I reach for this every morning now and a little goes a long way too! Brilliant product and I definitely recommend replacing your hairspray for this.

and lastly is the macleans ice whitening tooth paste. I love whitening tooth pastes. But, the big problem with these pastes is the taste! I have the taste of baking soda and there are a few that just have that overwhelming flavour – Arm & hammer for example. So, this is the perfect minty fresh toothpaste, which creates noticeably whiter teeth! This sells for around £1.50, but you may notice that it is often on offer at your local Tesco/Sainsburys.

Next up let’s talk about what I’ve been applying nearly everyday onto my face! Again this month I have the Revolution Sugar & Spice blusher palette. This has 1 contour-like shade, 7 blushers and 2 highlighters. This sells for £6. The pigmentation is so brilliant- a little goes a very long way. I’ve been really loving the highlighter shades this month as they provide the most perfect glow on your face!

The MUA cover and conceal concealer is the perfect under eye concealer for fair skinned people like me! This costed £1.50. I apply this to my inner and outer corner under my eye. I then blend these both in using one of my fingers. this blends in so easily and just wakens up you up! Lovely product! 🙂

If you read my recent shopping haul you’ll know that I picked up The Body Shop’s honey bronzer for £13 in shade 01. I know this is a bit more on the pricey end, but if you are pale skinned and are looking for the perfect contour, this is it!! I use the Real Techniques contour/ sculpting brush (£9.99) to apply this to my cheek bones. I love the brush as it applies the perfect amount of product to my face! I don’t know how it does it, but it’s a winner for me! This blends in so easily too. If you’d like to read the haul, click here.

Shade one Shade 1

Lastly I will talk about the Autograph time defy anti ageing foundation. This sells in M&S for £12. This I have been applying with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. I like to dampen my sponge before using it. This blends into my skin flawlessly and creates such a natural, soft matte finish. I feel it gives a truly ‘airbrushed’ effect to my skin! I love both the sponge and the foundation. Read about the foundation here and the sponge here!

Lastly, let’s see what I’ve been loving for my eyes!

The Eyeko skinny liquid liner in coffee sells for about £12. I love this felt tip! It is so perfect for achieving any kind of eye look. I like how the applicator isn’t too hard, nor too flimsy – it makes adding a little flick to your eyes so easy! I like this for an every day eye look because it is more soft on your eyes than a bold black.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Retro Glam (£6.99) has found itself in my monthly favourites. The formula of this is a lot better than others in the rimmel mascara range. I like the brush and I like how my lashes look after applying this… an over-all winner I guess! Here’s a wee look of how my lashes look after using this and the eyeko liner.

And lastly. The w7 IN THE NUDE Palette (£4.99-7.99). This is a dupe for the Naked 3 palette and let’s just say WOW. There are about 6 shades in this which I just love. (There are none that I don’t like!) They all are so pigmented and soft and are soooo easy to blend. This is the palette you need in your makeup bag. It has a range of shimmers and mattes. So perfect.

So that’s what I have been loving this month! Any that you recommend for me to try out for next month? I’d love to know your favourites too!

Thankyou so much for reading and I hope you’ve had a brilliant July!

Rimmel London Mascara Mess!

So here’s me, in the local chemist, before work and I see a basket saying ‘SALE’. So obviously I rush over to said basket! It was filled with Rimmel products. This includes nail polishes, lip glosses and mascaras. So, because I haven’t previously tried many rimmel products, I couldn’t help but pick a few things up. I picked up 2 glosses and 2 mascaras – I’ll tell you about the lipglosses in another post. So, What did I pick up? retro glam

I picked up the Retro Glam mascara for like £3 – It is usually priced at £6.99.

Rimmel describes this product as…

The 60s are back full swing with a thicker, fuller, wide-eyed look! A wide-eyed false lash look, fanned out volume with NO clumps!

A wide-eyed false lash look

Fanned out volume. No clumps

Lashes Up, out and over the top

There is no denying that this ‘widens’ your eyes. It definitely leaves a curl in your lashes whilst adding quite some length to them too. But, this is pretty clumpy when applying, but like any other mascara, this is easy to fix – just wiggle your brush on your lashes to get rid of the clumps. So let’s talk about the product itself!

The applicator is a normal wand with a pinch in the middle. This does help add a good curl in your lashes. I much prefer the formula of this mascara in comparison to the scandaleyes lycra flex. Here is how this mascara looks:

glam 2 glam 3

Next up is the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex mascara. Honestly, I don’t like this. The product itself is too wet and takes forever to dry and just makes you look like a killer panda! That’s basically the only reason why I don’t like it. But, if the product itself isn’t good, then that kinda ruins the whole thing. The applicator is actually ok, so it’s a shame that the liquidy part is so crap. I got this for £3 and it is usually £6.99.

So, here are some pictures:

scandal scandal mascara

Normal styled applicator in an annoyingly big tube.

scandal 2 scandal 3

Yes my lashes look long, but the liquid is crap, so farewell scandaleyes.

So, what do you think of the rimmel mascaras? In the past I owned 2 different ones and really liked 1 and was so-so on the other. So pretty much I am 50/50 on this brand’s mascaras.

Hope you enjoyed reading! 🙂

Everyday Work Makeup Routine!

So recently I got two new jobs, so I’ve been trying to find the ‘appropriate’ makeup for a work place. So basically I’ll be showing you what I wear to work and how I get my look! 🙂

Hope you enjoy reading, i’m always a bit weird about posting tutorials because I’m not, in any form, a professional and nor am I overly comfortable in posting pictures like this of myself… so yeah, hope you enjoy!

So I always begin my makeup routine with moisturiser. This is the most important step in your makeup routine. It is good for your skin and also creates a sort of ‘base’ for the rest of your makeup. No, your moisturiser does NOT have to be expensive. Just experiment with a few different brands that offer a moisturiser for YOUR skin type. I personally use Boots’ own brand moisturiser that sells for £1.49 and it works wonders on my skin! This is for all skin types and I find that the fresh cucumber scent is just lovely!10085480

So after I apply my moisturiser, I then dampen my Real Technique’s beauty blender under cold water. I find that if you squeeze the blender whilst the water is going through it, it will make the blender go twice the size and work so much better!

So I then choose my foundation, today I used Bourjois healthy mix foundation. I put one pump of it on the back of my hand and then dabbed the blender into it. I begin in the middle of my face and then move to my forehead and then finish on my chin!

IMG_20150718_144600641 IMG_20150718_144529005IMG_20150718_144536925 IMG_20150718_144545592

So once i’m happy enough with the finish of my foundation (honestly, for everyday I love just a natural finish – a your skin but better kinda thing) I would then use my new contour powder from the body shop. I use my Real Techniques Contour Brush to do this! I apply this to the hollow of my cheek bone. This looks quite harsh when first applied, but this brush makes it so easy to blend out to a natural finish!

IMG_20150718_144641058 IMG_20150718_144635689

Next with a little blusher brush I apply my Natural Collection Blusher. I dab only a little bit of product onto my brush because with blusher I think it is so easy to go OTT and look crazy. So it’s best to start with a little and build it up! 🙂 Blusher, I feel is so important in an everyday look because It fills your face with a lil bit of life and colour 🙂

IMG_20150718_144727191 (1)

So lastly for my face I apply loose powder. I use a large fluffy brush, from real techniques, to do this. I focus on my nose, chin and forehead because they’re the most likely to be getting oily throughout the day. Plus, I like to avoid applying powder on my cheeks because it takes away the natural glow from your skin. This means you don’t have to use a highlighter!:)

IMG_20150718_150137600 IMG_20150718_150148384_HDR

So then I move onto my eyes. I begin by applying my It’s About Prime eye primer from Soap & Glory to my eyelids. Next I sort out my brows! I use a spooli to get them into shape and then use my Catrice Cosmetics brow powder. I use the lighter colour to fill my brows in!

IMG_20150718_144833471 (1)  IMG_20150718_145015682IMG_20150718_145520356

So Next up are the eyes! I use a small little stippling brush to apply a light colour from my Revolution palette all over my lids. This just evens out the colour of my lids and kind of ‘pulls the whole look together’ whilst also setting the primer! After I’m happy with the base, I then apply a little bit of my favourite gray eyeshadow, from Catrice Cosmetics, to the crease of my eye. I use a small fluffy blending brush to do this.

IMG_20150718_145229512 IMG_20150718_145316139 IMG_20150718_150336654 IMG_20150718_150350941

After this I use my Eyeko cosmetics pen eyeliner in the brown shade and line my upper lids. I do a very close-to-the-lash liner for this look – No flicks or anything! Once this is finished, I curl my lashes and then apply a thin coating of mascara. Instead of using my Maybelline ‘Big Eyes’ mascara (a big fave of mine) I use a more natural looking mascara called ‘great lash’ again, by maybelline. I use the waterproof version to avoid any awkward panda eyes throughout the day!

IMG_20150718_145503754 IMG_20150718_145854136 IMG_20150718_145808561

To finish the eye look off, I use my maybelline brown eyeliner on the outer corner of my waterline and blend it in using my finger. I also like to use my pale eye pencil from Seventeen in my inner corner to open up my eyes!

IMG_20150718_145758695IMG_20150718_145652164 (1)

To finish off the whole look I moisturise my lips and then apply a lipstick from the body shop on my lips.
