January – April Favourites

So i’ve done like 2 posts this year – my bad. It’s not that i’ve lost interest in blogging, more just that I can’t think of what to post & that I don’t really have the time. Perhaps I will post more in the Summer…

So as a lil catch-up post, I thought that I should tell you about what i’ve been loving this year. I’ll tell you about basically everything – both beauty and non-beauty related! As a quick catch-up, I’m in my last year of school, so everything is a bit hectic at the moment.. only a fortnight until i’m off for study leave! Repierced my ear, so I have 9 piercingzzz now.. I’m sure there are more new things, but I just can’t think of any! Perhaps I will remember as I do more posts! ūüôā

So anyway, things I have been loving in 2016:

Non-beauty:

IMG_9006

So it was about January when my friends and I were talking about the dreams we had the previous night. It was at this stage that I went onto amazon and looked for a dream dictionary and found this book by Tony Crisp. (Earlier that month I bought a book called ‘The master key system’, which I am saving for the summer.) So yes, it arrived in the post however many days later and since then i’ve been reading about my friends’ and my dreams. It is such an interesting book and helps you to understand your unconscious mind.

IMG_8974

In December, when Starbucks had their seasonal coffees out, I tried my friend’s chai tea latte and holy mother it was amazing! Since then i’d been looking for something similar to make at home & this is it! This is such a nice relaxing drink. I mix it with milk and it then goes nice and foamy/creamy!

IMG_8975Earl Grey is my favourite kind of tea now. Earlier this year I was introduced to it by the boyfriend! He takes it with milk, but I prefer it black with 1 sugar! It is q fragrant and very tasty! This is my 2nd box… yum!

Kinda Beauty

IMG_8977

So for Christmas I was given Soap & Glory shower gels. I got the Sugar Crush one, which is the nicest smelling of all their body products! It is like a soft citrus scent and costs only ¬£6.50!¬†¬†It makes your skin so soft and it foams up lotssss in the shower! This has lasted 4 months, which is crazy to me because shower gel is always the quickest to run out for me! There’s about a third of it left also! -Crazy.

In March I bought both the ‘luxurious moisture‘ shampoo and conditioner by TRESemme. This says that it is for ‘dry or dull hair’. Although my hair wasn’t really dull or dry, I bought it because my hair had become¬†frizzy as I had been changing my shampoos up too much. These were really cheap at the time too, so my friend urged me to pick up the conditioner too – I didn’t really use conditioner much previously. I can honestly say, since I stuck to the same shampoo and conditioner, my hair is feeling so much nicer. It stays clean for 2-3 days before I need to wash it again also! This smells good also, not so much a fruity smell, but a salon-shampoo kinda smell! These cost about ¬£4 each.

IMG_8976

For my face i’ve been using 2 different face scrubs: Garnier pure 3 in 1 wash scrub & mask and Clean & Clear daily exfoliating daily wash. The Garnier one, ¬£3.79, I use as a mask. I would cleanse my face first and then rub this onto my tzone and then leave it for about 3 minutes. You can feel this tingle while it is on and when it is washed off your skin is sooooo smooth. I used this about once a week – because it is so strong! As for the clean and clear one, ¬£3.10, I used this more regularly because it was much more gentle.¬†This could also be used everyday.

I got the Neutrogena visibly clear facial wash for ¬£4.69. This smells amazing and fresh, like grapefruit. I’d say this is a good cleanser as my skin has that clean feeling after using it!

Lastly in skincare is coconut oil. I’ve replaced my moisturiser for this. At night time I would massage this onto my face for like 5 minutes and then go to sleep. The next morning I then wake up with the softest skin in the world! I would then take a little bit and apply it to my face again, before I apply my makeup. If it is too oily I then blot it off (after about 5 minutes) with a soft towel and apply my makeup. Such an easy product with such good results! You should definitely try this out – especially if you have dry skin!

Beauty Favourites:

IMG_8978

Maybelline Master Precise Black liquid eyeliner  £5.99

This is a really true-black pigment. It stays on all day and is thin enough to go very close to the lash line, but is also very easy to thicken up. Lasts quite long also.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara £7.99

IMG_8984

I know I used to say that I hated all plastic-wands as they were sore to apply (?) But it turns out, for me, this is only no.7 mascaras. So this makes my lashes really long with a bit of curl. This stays on all day and doesn’t flake off.

Benefit Roller Lash mascara £19.50

When coming home from Liverpool I bought this mascara in duty free, so it was a bit cheaper. (Not sure how much I paid!) This mascara is amazing! I find that this however is quite similar to the Rimmel and Essence mascaras though, so I save this for nights out or whatever. But, really great product and worth the money if you’re willing to spend it!

Essence Maximum definition volume mascara £2.99

This is such a little gem! This is another one with a plastic wand. The formula isn’t waterproof though, so if your eyes water a lot it could be a problem. But, nonetheless, it is a really nice wand and gives the lashes a really nice curl.

I will probs do a post (at some stage) of each of these mascaras on the lashes.

IMG_8978

Collection Eye Brow Kit Brunette £3.99

IMG_8987

I use the light shade of this everyday to fill in my browns and occasionally the darker colours to do stronger/defined brows. This is also so pigmented. Like i bought this last August and only just hit pan on it!

Natural Collection Mocha/Latte eyeshadow £1.99

The brown shade in this duo is soooo beautiful. It is such a soft brown. I use it in my crease, as a smoked out lid colour, or as a smokey undereye shade. Really gorgeous and is so easy to layer up.

Bourjois Shade 08 little round pot eyeshadow £5.99

Again this is in my favourites. Recently i’ve been using this only in my inner corner as a highlight. I use a really small, compact eyeshadow brush and apply it to my inner corner to give a really brightened effect.

IMG_8990

Boutique Bronzer

IMG_8993

So this product is from Sainsburys. I bought it for ¬£9, if I remember correctly. ¬†Recently i’ve been using this everyday on my cheeks and forehead contour. I use this as a bronzer and not a contour as it is more or a warm toned product. A big fluffy brush is perfect for this!

Maybelline Super Stay24hr Foundation

This was the first proper foundation that I ever bought. But, it has now been reformulated and a new, nicer packaging is on it. This comes in a pale enough shade for me,so I bough it again recently. I found that, because it was such a high-coverage product, that it was a bit cakey with how i’d been applying it- onto moisturised skin with a buffing brush. Now I apply it to my face, after the coconut oil has been applied, with a dampened complexion sponge from Real Techniques. This nicely covers up whatever redness is on my face, but doesn’t cover up my freckles! A nice natural-ish finish! This costs ¬£8.99

Benefit Feelin’ DANDY Cheeks & Lip Palette

This was also bought when I was coming home from Liverpool, but sells for ¬£25.50 in Boots. I’d always wanted to buy the dandelion blusher, as well as the highbeam highlighter. I love all of the products inside this. The lipgloss tastes like grapefruit and is such a nice feeling on the lipsss. It isn’t sticky or gritty, it just feels like a lipbalm, but makes your lips all glossy. The blusher is such a subtle¬†shade of pink and the liquid blusher/liptint gives a nice flush of colour. My favourite inside this set though has to be the highlighter. I dab this on the high-points of my face and this gives the nicest glow. It isn’t sparkly and it isn’t too shiny. Perfecccct.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I love this for applying foundation. I dampen this before use to give a really nice natural application of foundation. for £5.99 this is such a cheap product that every girl Рwho wears foundation Рneeds in her makeup bag!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

IMG_8993

I use this cool-toned bronzer to contour. This is really good and comes with a little brush – which can be used to contour! My friend gave me this & i’m so glad, as I probably wouldn’t have bought it myself because i’m always a bit sceptical about pricey makeup products as this is ¬£23.50.

Maybelline Matte Maker pressed powder

I like this simply because it was cheap,¬†¬£3.99, it came in a light enough shade for my pasty pale skin and it isn’t cakey!

Sleek Matte Me 436 Birthday Suit matte lip ¬£4.99. This matte lip cream, although somewhat difficult to apply, is a really brilliant product. It’s a nice naturalish shade and stays on a lonnnnnng time. It also doesn’t feel too drying when on le lips either!

L’oreal Girl On Top Lipgloss¬†

This is just a nice girly pink gloss. Not too sticky and no gritty glitter! The applicator on this is a weird shape, which I like too! This is ¬£6.99. For something that lasts ageees that isn’t so bad either!

IMG_9000

Mac Studded kiss & Diva lipstick

May as well talk about these two together because they’re so similar. They are both amazing. I love how deep they are and how long lasting. I’d say Diva lasts a bit longer and is more dark in comparison to studded kiss, which is slightly more orange-red toned but is still very dark – more of a vibrant red perhaps? These cost¬†¬£15.50 each, which yes is crazy, but I don’t even care! I love wearing these and it makes it more special when I do.

The Bodyshop 340 colour crush lipstick £10

IMG_9004

This is such a nice plum/purple tint. I would wear this by itself for a lil bit of purpley colour, or on top of another lipstick to darken it up. It is one of my favourite lipsticks! This is a really moisturising one too.

Revolution lipstick -? £1

Firstly, gotta say that I don’t know the name of this one! I bought this because of how amazing it looked before use. It looks pure black with the best shine to it. Plus, it’s ¬£1… who really cares if it was shite…? It wasn’t either! This is reallly nice smudged on the lips. When I wear this I apply it and then blend it in with my finger – because it is so pigmented, but also so moisturising? As it is so pigmented and also so moisturising it almost has a streak to it? But this easily blends in. The smell of this is like fruit pastels and is amazing! This could also be used to darken up another lipstick!

Rimmel 700 Naughty Nude Lipstick

IMG_9005

This is a newer lipstick from Rimmel. This goes on feeling really moisturising, but then locks down and stays on for ages! I love this brownish shade too, as a natural/nude colour. It’s so strange because it has a veryyyy subtle gloss effect, but it also feels matte? so weird. For ¬£6.99 this one doesn’t disappoint!

So I hope you enjoyed my overdue favourites! Hoping you’ve all had a fabbbb 2016 so far & hope to be posting more… soon! (If you’ve made it this far, hi B.N) ¬†Much much love,

Stephanie x

Makeup First Impressions

So hi! 2 posts in 2 days.. crazy! Happy 2016, I hope you’re having a fab January! I was sitting today reading through others’ posts on wordpress and I realised that I never really do ‘first impressions’ posts. So, to have a bit more content i’ve decided to do a few!

So first off is a product from Freedom.¬†This is a brand that is pretty new to the UK. When I was visiting Superdrug, I couldn’t help but pick a product up. I’d say this brand is very similar to the brand Makeup Revolution.

I picked up the product¬†Eyebrow Pomade¬† in¬†Ash brown.¬†The brand describes¬†this product as¬†“Professional Bold Brow Impact from Pro Brow Pomade is the most effective ‘bullet-proof’ solution for HD Brows. Its gel like formula performs all day for bold brow impact. Available in eleven shades to complement all skin tones and hair colours. Perfect for creating professionally defined, natural-looking brows.

I’ve used this about 5 times and I really like it. I find it to be very dark on my brows, so would only really wear it for ‘statement brows‘ I apply this to my brows using an angled brush, dab excess product off the lid and then work it through to try and lighten it up. Today I decided to experiment using this as an eyeliner. It’s really easy to blend and give a nice natural/smokey look.

I don’t have any photos of it on my brows, but I have some swatches and 2 pictures of it as eyeliner.

The other product is one from Collection (once called Collection 2000).¬†Collection is a brand that is very hit or miss with me. I’ve loved their eyeliners and only kinda liked their foundations. But, when I saw the ‘eyes uncovered‘ palette I fell in looove!

So, This palette sells for ¬£3.99. It has 6 creamy, pigmented shades. This has 6 perfect shades for the perfect nude look. 3 lighter shades and 3 darker shades. I only bought this like 3 days ago, so I don’t have much of an opinion yet. None of the days has it creased though – and that’s without a primer! Brill!

Below are the swatches Left>Right

White chocolate, Buttercream, Biscuit, Chocolate milk, Brown sugar & Espresso.

The top row of swatches is them applied with a dampened applicator and the bottom is just normal.

The best of 2015 pt. 2

So here is the 2nd part of my favourite products of 2015! Hope you enjoy!;

EYES;

IMG_7293

Collection is¬†a brand that are very hit or miss with me. This brow powder set however is one of the best that i’ve used. I love that this comes with 3 shades, so there is a shade for very natural brows and statement brows. perfecto! A brow gel that keeps the lil brow hairs neat and tidy is also included in this.¬†IMG_7272

I’ve been trying so many different pen liners since 2014. This pen is amazing! Once again Maybelline steal the limelight for best drugstore pen liner. It is slim enough to give a natural line and the formula is amazing and stays on all day! The perfect black.IMG_7273

eyeko is a brand that i’ve never used before, until this product. My friend got this in a set, but she doesn’t use brown liner so passed it on to me. The tip of this is the best. The formula is wet, but dries in seconds. Nice dark brown shade also. I’d safely say this is the best eyeliner i’ve ever used!

IMG_7288

The best mascara award is joint between 2 maybelline favourites. The falsies give my lashes the perfect curl whilst the BIG EYES mascara opens them up like crazy! I love the lowerlash mascara wand that comes with this.

IMG_7285

Soap & Glory’s it’s about prime is the best primer i’ve ever used for my eyes. It stops my shadow from creasing and it makes the shadows much more pigmented and apply more smoothly. I like to apply this and then set it with pressed powder, then I apply my shadows.

Next to that is the Maybelline colour tattoo. I have it in bad to the bronze. The perfect base. Lovely shade and doesn’t crease. Easy to layer up and perfect on its own.

catrice

Once again Catrice, Starlight Expresso has made it to my favourites. I love to use this for the perfect smokey eye. It is also perfect to put in the crease for a nice, natural look.

IMG_7278

MUA are my favourite brand for palettes. This particular palette is heaven & earth. The perfect cool and warm tone browns and perfect highlight shades. These are so cheap and the quality is amazing!! This and the undress me 2 palette are amazinggg!

So I have 2 nude faves and one bold one. Naked Beige from Soap & Glory is the most comfortable, most flattering shade that i’ve ever used on my lips. The colour stays on nicely and feels amazing. Asia, by Rimmel London is a nice mauve shade which also has great lasting power.

Mac‘s Diva is such an amazing shade. The perfect dark red. It goes on creamy and then sets as a matte. Really lovely vampy shade.

IMG_7289

Nothing gives my foundation a better finish than when I apply it with a dampened beauty sponge by Real Techniques. This is the perfect applicator for a natural finish.

If I were only allowed 2 more shadow applicators it would have to be MUA’s E3 and No.7‘s Blend and Contour. The no.7 one is perfect for blending eyeshadows together while the MUA one is perfect for smoking the shades out.

IMG_7270

So my last 2015 favourite is the Body Shop‘s mango body whip. I love the creaminess of this fruity scented cream. After about 3 uses your skin is softer than a baby’s butt! Love love LOVE!

So I hope you all had a faaaab 2015 & I apologise for these being written so late. Hope to be doing more regular posts this year.. hopefully!

Much Love,

Stephanie!

The Best of 2015

I have found so many products in 2015 that I love, so let’s jump straight in and talk about it! I’ll do this in 2 separate posts, Face and eyes. So today,

Face:

IMG_7284

Micellar water has become a huge thing this year for us beauty fans. This Garnier one is the first that i’ve tried and it was a lucky one to start off with! This gets your makeup off in one wipe and leaves a nice feeling on your skin. – In comparison to some makeup removers which leave a greasy feeling on the skin.

The body shop have the best lip balms that i’ve ever used. They are so hydrating, nice and creamy and have amaaazing flavours!

Once again, Boots‘ moisturiser is in my favourites. Good price, nice smell (THE SMELLLL) and great on my skin!

IMG_7281kjl

For my Foundation fave it has to be Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. This is medium coverage and cancels out my red tones perfectly!

Pressed powder winner goes to Maybelline’s Matte Maker. This is the perfect pale powder which is perfect to give your skin a natural matte finish. This is perfect for your handbag & can be applied with either a brush or a sponge. Next to it is Collection’s sheer loose powder. This is what I use in the mornings to set my foundation. I use a big fluffy brush to apply this.

The best contour and highlight I have used (almost) everyday this year has been from Sleek’s face form in light. This is v v pigmented, so only a little is needed. It amazed me that I haven’t hit pan on this yet?! V V good. I bought this for about ¬£12? Can’t really remember!

For blushers, i’ve been loving the Makeup Revolution Sugar & Spice Ultra Blush Palette. This palette is amazing. The most pigmented face products that i’ve ever used. There are 6 blushers and 2 highlights.

10557443_892035257481526_1028078837510250894_n

Real Techniques have found their way into my yearly faves! To the left is the Sculpting brush and beside it is the blush brush. The sculpting brush is amazing with applying bronzer/contour. It is so soft and easy to use. Meanwhile with the blusher brush, just the right amount of product transfers from the brush to your skin. It is really easy to blend with.

IMG_7286

MUA Cover and Conceal is the first concealer that I have properly fallen in love with. This is such a lovely brightening concealer & blends in beautifully.

Hope you have had a fab fab year! I swear i’ll be doing the other half of this post very very soon! Much love my beautiful friends!

Drugstore Foundation Review:

So I thought, after much avoidance over the past year, that it’s about time I looked into foundations. No, not because I need it, but because I love makeup and I love trying different things. I love comparing cheaper makeup to help myself, my friends and you guys (Not that you aren’t my friends!) know which brands do the best!¬†

I’ve looked into eyeshadows finding dupes, looked into blushers and face powders too! So, when I saw all the sales in boots recently, I thought that now is better than anytime to pick these foundations up (even a little cheaper) than any!¬†

So after giving each foundation a few uses, I will now tell you about my experiences with them, what I think and whether I recommend them to you or not.

May I just say also, that me being a ‘cheapskate’ means that literally every penny better be worth it or i’ll not be happy!¬†

So, enough of the bla bla bla and on with the actual content!

So in the past 2-3 weeks I picked up 4 new foundations and I will also be telling you about 2 others that I have previously purchased.

So, here are the 6 foundations:

WP_20140831_003 (1)

Left > Right

Rimmel London Wake Me up ~ IVORY £8.99

Rimmel London Match Perfection ~ LIGHT PORCELAIN £6.99

Maybelline New York Dream Satin Liquid ~ LIGHT PORCELAIN £7.99

Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse ~ LIGHT PORCELAIN £7.69

Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix Foundation ~ LIGHT VANILLA £9.99

L’oreal Paris True Match ~ ROSE IVORY¬†¬£9.99

Looking at this you can probably tell i’m a pale/pasty chica! You are indeed correct. If like me, you’re pale, you assumingly also find it so frustrating going foundation shopping because NO brands consider the paler girls (or the darker skinned girls either!)

So i’ll start left and move along the line.¬†

Firstly is the Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation. This is a really weird one. As you can see it is the darkest of the foundations. I have this in the lightest shade, ‘Ivory’, yet this is still pretty damn dark. (As you can see below.) The last time I used this though, I found that it blends in very well and it doesn’t appear darker than your skintone at all?! Soooo odd!¬†

A slight fault … or advantage, depending on how you look at it is, under artificial light, it looks like you have painted your face with glitter. I remember in English class last year, the guy beside me said… “You have glitter all over your face… do you know?” He was right too! It just looks like specks of glitter have been added to your skin. NOT CUTE!! However, in the sun light it gives a beautiful glow to your skin! Appropriate for the Summer, but I’m avoiding this one over winter/ autumn.

WP_20140831_005 WP_20140831_006

Next is Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation. This is beautiful. Really really great. I got this on sale for ¬£5 in boots as a lot of their Rimmel products were reduced, so I couldn’t help but add it to my basket. And holy smokes, am I glad that I did?!?! (yes) This is definitely a makeup bag essential. You have your moisturiser applied, let it sink in and then you apply this and it will melt into your skin. Blends beautifully and matches your skin 100%. I love how this feels on my skin – light, barely a trace of it! It gives pretty good coverage, which is buildable too! I like to dust over some powder just to set this foundation. It gives a beautiful radiant-finish to your skin that seriously is like a higher-end product. ¬†This foundation stays for quite a long time, i’m not overly sure about ‘all day’, but it definitely stays a good while! I much prefer this one to its cousin, wake me up, because it is just so natural looking. Not cakey, no streaks, your skin – but better!

WP_20140831_007 WP_20140831_008

Dream Satin Liquid – ¬†is next. This one i’m having a love-hate relationship with. I found that you reallllly need to moisturise before applying this to give the foundation something to hold-on-to. It applies with perfection onc e your moisturiser has set. it blends in beautifully, you just need patience. This looks as though it will be too dark for my skin, but i’ve found that with blending, blending and a bit more blending that you will have your skin, but better. This stays at least 16 hours. definitely on all day. However, if you can’t be bothered with taking the time to blend it (i’m not judging, you may be in a rush!) then this really isn’t the foundation for you. It has a light-finish, but only when you blend it properly. If you justr apply it with your fingers and don’t buff it out with a stippling brush, you may have a cakey finish. I like to get about 3/4 of a pump of the product, rub onto my face using my warm fingers and then once it has almost set, I then get the stippling brush and buff it in. It takes about 2 minutes to apply this way, which may seem like no time… but it does in the morning! (does that make sense?) I do recommend this one, but only if you have the patience! ūüėõ¬†

WP_20140831_011

Maybelline New York – Dream Matte Mousse¬†is a product that has been rated, reviewed and raved for years now. This is perfect for oily skin. PERFECT. If you have dry skin this is basically like trying to put clay on your face. It looks terrible when I go through my dry skin phases. I avoid this during the winter. However, on days I want my skin to look flawless, this is the one I reach for. I personally use my fingers to apply this, I’ve found that with a brush or a sponge this just comes off the skin… it’s not liquid so it can’t really be buffed into the skin? The warmth of your fingers going in a circular motion will blend this one in. If you have large pores, may I add, I’d recommend to avoid this product! I have larger pores around my nose which are just emphasised any time I have this applied. So basically this can be a hit or a miss for you. Also, a little bit goes a very long way with this one. A primer/ moisturiser is essential for this though, or else it will just rub off within an hour! Personally, it is a bit too much coverage for me on a daily basis, but on days you want to look flawless it is a nice one.¬†

WP_20140831_012

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation:¬†¬†So this is one that has also been raved about in the beauty world. FINALLY I picked it up. This was actually the first one of the 4 that I bought (recently.) This is perfect. The smell. The texture. The application. The finish. The lasting. I don’t even care that this is a tenner. This is amazing. Applies smoothly and with minimal effort. This comes in a few shades, AND with one that is pale enough for me too! There isn’t much to say about this one, other than, i 100% recommend it. Whether you have oily, dry or normal skin. If you have oily skin just dust over powder. This lasts all day and has buildable coverage. Beautiful.¬†

WP_20140831_013 WP_20140831_014

FINALLY, L’oreal Paris True Match,¬†if you are at all interested in beauty, you have almost certainly heard of this one. Everyone loves it. EVERYONE. So I had to give it a go. First impressions? Very high coverage… I did however give it a few goes. It has a very liquidy solution when you pump it out, but when you apply it to your face and blend it in I found that it has a liquid to powder finish. I don’t realllllly know if i like that. I gave it a few more shots and I found that the reason I wasn’t so keen on it is because the coverage is so high. So I used half a pump and blended it in. Perfection. I love it now! Haha! If at first you don’t succeed…. yenno… try it again and again and again! It does give a pretty flawless-finish, but also not cakey! I love it… okay.. I like it a lot! I do recommend though, for any skin types! Also I’m glad that there is finally a drugstore brand that has enough skin tones! Whether you are very pale, or very dark, there’s likely to be a tone that matches you!

WP_20140831_015 WP_20140831_016

So, have you tried any of these products? What do you think of them? Have you any drugstore ones that you recommend to me? I’d love to know your suggestions/ recommendations.¬†

Also, if you have any questions about the products i used, please, don’t hesitate to ask! (I’m friendly… I swerrrr)¬†
