Makeup First Impressions

So hi! 2 posts in 2 days.. crazy! Happy 2016, I hope you’re having a fab January! I was sitting today reading through others’ posts on wordpress and I realised that I never really do ‘first impressions’ posts. So, to have a bit more content i’ve decided to do a few!

So first off is a product from Freedom. This is a brand that is pretty new to the UK. When I was visiting Superdrug, I couldn’t help but pick a product up. I’d say this brand is very similar to the brand Makeup Revolution.

I picked up the product Eyebrow Pomade  in Ash brownThe brand describes this product as “Professional Bold Brow Impact from Pro Brow Pomade is the most effective ‘bullet-proof’ solution for HD Brows. Its gel like formula performs all day for bold brow impact. Available in eleven shades to complement all skin tones and hair colours. Perfect for creating professionally defined, natural-looking brows.

I’ve used this about 5 times and I really like it. I find it to be very dark on my brows, so would only really wear it for ‘statement brows‘ I apply this to my brows using an angled brush, dab excess product off the lid and then work it through to try and lighten it up. Today I decided to experiment using this as an eyeliner. It’s really easy to blend and give a nice natural/smokey look.

I don’t have any photos of it on my brows, but I have some swatches and 2 pictures of it as eyeliner.

The other product is one from Collection (once called Collection 2000). Collection is a brand that is very hit or miss with me. I’ve loved their eyeliners and only kinda liked their foundations. But, when I saw the ‘eyes uncovered‘ palette I fell in looove!

So, This palette sells for £3.99. It has 6 creamy, pigmented shades. This has 6 perfect shades for the perfect nude look. 3 lighter shades and 3 darker shades. I only bought this like 3 days ago, so I don’t have much of an opinion yet. None of the days has it creased though – and that’s without a primer! Brill!

Below are the swatches Left>Right

White chocolate, Buttercream, Biscuit, Chocolate milk, Brown sugar & Espresso.

The top row of swatches is them applied with a dampened applicator and the bottom is just normal.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

The best of 2015 pt. 2

So here is the 2nd part of my favourite products of 2015! Hope you enjoy!;

Collection is a brand that are very hit or miss with me. This brow powder set however is one of the best that i’ve used. I love that this comes with 3 shades, so there is a shade for very natural brows and statement brows. perfecto! A brow gel that keeps the lil brow hairs neat and tidy is also included in this. IMG_7272

I’ve been trying so many different pen liners since 2014. This pen is amazing! Once again Maybelline steal the limelight for best drugstore pen liner. It is slim enough to give a natural line and the formula is amazing and stays on all day! The perfect black.IMG_7273

eyeko is a brand that i’ve never used before, until this product. My friend got this in a set, but she doesn’t use brown liner so passed it on to me. The tip of this is the best. The formula is wet, but dries in seconds. Nice dark brown shade also. I’d safely say this is the best eyeliner i’ve ever used!

The best mascara award is joint between 2 maybelline favourites. The falsies give my lashes the perfect curl whilst the BIG EYES mascara opens them up like crazy! I love the lowerlash mascara wand that comes with this.

Soap & Glory’s it’s about prime is the best primer i’ve ever used for my eyes. It stops my shadow from creasing and it makes the shadows much more pigmented and apply more smoothly. I like to apply this and then set it with pressed powder, then I apply my shadows.

Next to that is the Maybelline colour tattoo. I have it in bad to the bronze. The perfect base. Lovely shade and doesn’t crease. Easy to layer up and perfect on its own.

Once again Catrice, Starlight Expresso has made it to my favourites. I love to use this for the perfect smokey eye. It is also perfect to put in the crease for a nice, natural look.

MUA are my favourite brand for palettes. This particular palette is heaven & earth. The perfect cool and warm tone browns and perfect highlight shades. These are so cheap and the quality is amazing!! This and the undress me 2 palette are amazinggg!

So I have 2 nude faves and one bold one. Naked Beige from Soap & Glory is the most comfortable, most flattering shade that i’ve ever used on my lips. The colour stays on nicely and feels amazing. Asia, by Rimmel London is a nice mauve shade which also has great lasting power.

Mac‘s Diva is such an amazing shade. The perfect dark red. It goes on creamy and then sets as a matte. Really lovely vampy shade.

Nothing gives my foundation a better finish than when I apply it with a dampened beauty sponge by Real Techniques. This is the perfect applicator for a natural finish.

If I were only allowed 2 more shadow applicators it would have to be MUA’s E3 and No.7‘s Blend and Contour. The no.7 one is perfect for blending eyeshadows together while the MUA one is perfect for smoking the shades out.

So my last 2015 favourite is the Body Shop‘s mango body whip. I love the creaminess of this fruity scented cream. After about 3 uses your skin is softer than a baby’s butt! Love love LOVE!

So I hope you all had a faaaab 2015 & I apologise for these being written so late. Hope to be doing more regular posts this year.. hopefully!

Much Love,

The Best of 2015

I have found so many products in 2015 that I love, so let’s jump straight in and talk about it! I’ll do this in 2 separate posts, Face and eyes. So today,

Micellar water has become a huge thing this year for us beauty fans. This Garnier one is the first that i’ve tried and it was a lucky one to start off with! This gets your makeup off in one wipe and leaves a nice feeling on your skin. – In comparison to some makeup removers which leave a greasy feeling on the skin.

The body shop have the best lip balms that i’ve ever used. They are so hydrating, nice and creamy and have amaaazing flavours!

Once again, Boots‘ moisturiser is in my favourites. Good price, nice smell (THE SMELLLL) and great on my skin!

For my Foundation fave it has to be Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. This is medium coverage and cancels out my red tones perfectly!

Pressed powder winner goes to Maybelline’s Matte Maker. This is the perfect pale powder which is perfect to give your skin a natural matte finish. This is perfect for your handbag & can be applied with either a brush or a sponge. Next to it is Collection’s sheer loose powder. This is what I use in the mornings to set my foundation. I use a big fluffy brush to apply this.

The best contour and highlight I have used (almost) everyday this year has been from Sleek’s face form in light. This is v v pigmented, so only a little is needed. It amazed me that I haven’t hit pan on this yet?! V V good. I bought this for about £12? Can’t really remember!

For blushers, i’ve been loving the Makeup Revolution Sugar & Spice Ultra Blush Palette. This palette is amazing. The most pigmented face products that i’ve ever used. There are 6 blushers and 2 highlights.

Real Techniques have found their way into my yearly faves! To the left is the Sculpting brush and beside it is the blush brush. The sculpting brush is amazing with applying bronzer/contour. It is so soft and easy to use. Meanwhile with the blusher brush, just the right amount of product transfers from the brush to your skin. It is really easy to blend with.

MUA Cover and Conceal is the first concealer that I have properly fallen in love with. This is such a lovely brightening concealer & blends in beautifully.

Hope you have had a fab fab year! I swear i’ll be doing the other half of this post very very soon! Much love my beautiful friends!

May Favourites

So I promised myself, at the start of the year, that I would post monthly favourites each month this year. During the end of May I was focusing on finishing my ‘top 5’ series and forgot all about the Monthly Favourites posts… (My bad!) But, as I always say… Better late than never, eh?

All My Favourites

So I have 10 products and 1 brush to talk about for last month! Some of them are recurring faves and others are new ones!

My Favourite EyesLeft>>Right

Large angled brush, Makeup Gallery (Nude 2), Maybelline (Big Eyes Mascara), Makeup Revolution (Aqua Seal) Mac (prolongwear paint pot) Catrice (absolute eye colour mono)

So i’ve been loving using a larger angled brush to apply my eyeshadow colour. I find it much easier (& quicker too) to apply my brow colour & shape. I got this as part of a makeup brush set that I purchased earlier this year off ebay.

I have been using my Makeup Gallery (Nude 2) as a base to set my primer and to help brighten up my looks. This is the perfect creamy colour for nude makeup looks. This makeup brand is sold in Poundland (For £1 obviously).

My Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara has been used every day in May! I have loved it so much. It is perfect for long lashes making your lashes look the best you’ve ever been! I apply the upper lash wand from root to tip on my upper lashes, meanwhile I just apply the lower lash wand to the roots of my lower lashes to prevent spidery lashes! This duo mascara is £8.99, but Maybelline often do offers.

Makeup Revolution Aqua Seal primer is one that has been regularly used in the month of May. I found it weird getting used to using this one because i’ve never really used such a liquidy product on my lids! For £3 this is amazing! It is probably the best primer that i’ve ever used also! Makeup Revolution is a new favourite drugstore brand of mine & I recommend it to everyone! 🙂

Mac Prolongwear paint pot in Chrome Angel is one that just can’t be forgotten about in my Makeup routine! I like to use lighter eyeshadow bases to make any colour put ontop of it ‘pop’. Also, because I use matte eyeshadows so often, this helps to lighten up the look… yenno, not make it look so dull? I know that £15.50 does sound a bit steep, but i’ve had this about a year and a half, use it regularly and haven’t even hit pan on it yet! So, not so bad.

Catrice Absolute Eye Colour Mono in Starlight Expresso is the perfect shade to turn any look into a smokey eye. I like to apply this to my crease along with a creamy colour under. I basically use this everyday for a natural eye! I bought this 2 years ago and finally hit pan! This costs around £5 and is worth every penny!

My Favourite Lips Left >>Right L’oreal Collection Exclusive, The Body Shop lip butter, The Body Shop stick lip balm, Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner

L’oreal Paris Colour Rich Exclusive Nudes in Juliane is such a lovely nude. It glides on effortlessly just finishing off your look. I love the sleek packaging off this too. This one costs just £6.99 and the exclusive nudes range has 6 different shades, so you’re likely to find the perfect one to suit you!

The body shop lip butter in strawberry is such a nourishing, tasty balm that hydrates your lips in just one use! It is also so creamy and the lip butters come in many different flavours too! This costs £4, but I tend to only purchase the body shop products when on sale (which is often too!)

The Body Shop Born Lippy lipbalm – Strawberry is another perfect lip balm from the body shop. It applies only a little hint of colour, which I like! The scent is strong and is so tasty on the lips. This costs £3, but again, this is often on sale so I only buy it when reduced!

Rimmel London has done it again with another brilliant liner. This one is a lip liner which is the perfect product for under your nude lippy! This is in East End Snob and costs only £3.99. It is so creamy and is perfect for every day lips.

Sugar & Spice Palette

Makeup Revolution is in my monthly favourites again! This ultra blush palette in Sugar & Spice, for £6, has the best blushers that i’ve ever used. They are so soft and creamy to touch and blend so beautifully. You only need the tiniest bit of product on your brush because each shade is so pigmented. In this there are 2 highlighters, 1 contour and 5 blushers.

So those are my favourites of May. I know this was a little late … or very late… but, what can you do?

April Favourites

Can you believe that we are almost half way through 2015? I definitely can’t!

April, where I live, can either be amazing weather or just awful! So my makeup favourites change progressively!

But, I will post the few that i’ve been consistently loving!

Maybelline Big eyes mascara – This is amazing for length & it is perfect for my lower lashes!

download (2)

Rimmel London – Match Perfection : This is the perfect foundation for this time of year! It is so light on the skin, yet it still covers the imperfections!

download (1)

Head & Shoulders Shampoo – I love this stuff! It’s the pink one that i’ve been using recently. I swear to you, this stuff promotes hair growth ( for me anyway!).

Technic Brow Gel – This is a dupe for the Benefit brow gel. I got this for £1.99 on and I love it! I apply this with my own brush as I feel there’s too much on the applicator. Brilliant stuff though!

I’ve been sticking with basic makeup this month as i’ve just been so busy! I’m finished school in a fortnight though, so expect to be seeing a lot of me soon! 🙂

What have your favourites been this month?

March Favourites

Can you believe that we are just about to finish a quarter of the year? That went v v fast if you ask me. We have just finished Winter and are now in Spring! Spring time means pastel colours, sunglasses and cute dresses! (For me anyway) So I just can’t wait to ditch my warm fluffy clothes and say hello to my Spring wardrobe! As for the makeup, I will be trying out some new things – step out of my comfort zone!

But, there are some products that I just can’t dismiss and forget about! These are the products that I’ve been loving in the month of March!

A lot of makeup products, so let’s see what we’ve got!

I’ll start off with the gorgeous FACE products;

  • Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation

This is one that has been in my makeup stash for quite some time now. This is the one I reach for when I want a natural, even looking finish. This applies like a dream and is so easy to blend. Unlike many drugstore/ highstreet brands, this comes in a pale enough tone for my whiter-than-white skin. I apply this with my fingers and buff it in using my stippling/buff makeup brush. I am in the shade ‘IVORY’. This foundation has SPF 18, which is perfect for spring time. There are 30ml of product in the tube. This sells at £6.99 in Boots, but it is almost ALWAYS on offer! I believe I bought this one at £4.99 earlier in the year. This alone, for me, doesn’t last all day. But, with the use of my primer it certainly does! I recommend using primer before applying this and setting both the foundation and the primer with a powder to keep the foundation on all day. I rate this one a 9/10 – simply because it needs the primer. BUT, may I add that I touch my face a lot, so that is probably a contributing factor to why it doesn’t last.

  • w7 Prime Magic face primer camera ready

I bought this a while back in a local makeup shop. Honestly, I picked it up because it was selling for £3.99 and I thought that because most primers are very expensive, there wouldn’t be much of a loss, even if it was bad. There is 30ml of product in this squeeze tube. The product itself is transparent, thick and smooth. It leaves a silky finish to the skin which makes the foundation that is applied afterwards so simple to glide on. It leaves your skin PORELESS and irresistibly smooth. This is an absolute bargain and I rate it 10/10. You can buy this online on amazon or if any makeup shops near you sell it! I really recommend this for those whose foundation doesn’t last!

  • Revolution Sugar and Spice blusher palette

This palette of 8 shades is perfect. There are 2 highlighters, 1 contour and 5 blushers. This month I have been loving the last 3 shades on the top row and the 3rd shade on the bottom row. These are highly pigmented so only a teeeny bit of product is needed on your brush. I recommend also using a fluffy blusher brush for an even application. The texture of these is a gorgeous creamy powder (if that makes sense?) The 2nd shade on the top row, for me, is a perfect contour colour for my skin. The highlighter is very over the top so I apply the teeeniest amount to where I like! ( Should I do a contour/ highlight/ blusher tutorial? either like this post or comment below!) Over all I rate this 9.5/10 simply because I haven’t tried all the shades yet. This costed £8 which, for me, is a complete bargain for such high quality.

Next in my monthly favourites is EYES So, what have I been putting on my peepers?

  • No.7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

So I got this in a gift bag after buying 2 products from No.7 earlier this month. I love little samples like this they’re perfect for travelling because of their little dinky size. So I have tried this out this month and I can honestly say i’m impressed! I usually stay away from no.7 mascaras because they typically have a plastic wand and I can’t stand them! But this one is a fibre wand and I LOVE IT. A lot of product comes out when you remove the wand from the tube, but you just swipe it off inside and you’re sweet. I apply this as a 2nd coat mascara. It thickens my lashes and gives them a gorgeous amount of volume. It comes in a brown colour and a black one also. The cost of a full tube is £12.95. Honestly, I won’t be repurchasing it, but I am very happy with this sample! I won’t be repurchasing because, although it is a good quality, I do prefer my maybelline mascaras which are 1, cheaper and 2 the product isn’t as ‘wet’. Nonetheless, I rate this one a 7.5/10.

  • Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

This product I bought in a 3 for 2 a while back. This is perfect for long, curved lashes. For £7.99 I very much approve! This is long lasting, holds the curl in the lashes and comes in such a lovely black shade – a true black, not the gray-black that you get in other mascaras. I rate this 10/10 and 100% recommend it to those who want bolder, longer lashes for less! 🙂

  • Revolution aqua seal primer

I’ll admit I was very doubtful of this product when it arrived. It is a liquidy oily product and this made no sense to me how it could actually help your eyeshadow stay?! BUT, it most certainly does. I rate this higher than urban decay. For £3 this is a complete steal. Once you get used to applying/using this you are winning! I dab it onto my ring finger and then apply it to my eyelids. Then apply my base coat of eyeshadow to set it and continue with the shadows wanted for my lids! I rate this 10/10 and recommend it to all! £3 for a primer is crazy – especially because it is so good!

  • Revolution brow dual ultra brow arch and shape

So another hit from revolution – That’s 3 in a month!! I have been using this just to fill in my brows as a quick fix. I haven’t really gotten much use out of the felt tip end as I’m too scared to try it, but I will – soon! I do recommend this and for £3.50 it is certainly worth the try. This is the best brow pencil that I have tried – ever and I am v happy with it. 9/10

  • Maybelline Brow drama brow gel

On with the brows. I got this a while back and didn’t really think much of it. But alongside with my brow pencil I like this to set my brows in place and fill them in a touch too! £4.99 is an alright price for this too. I rate this 8/10 … The applicator kinda annoys me… But, all-in-all it has been a monthly favourite so it obviously hasn’t annoyed me too much!

  • L’oreal Super Liner Black Lacquer

I have been loving this every month since I bought it. It is perfect for a fine line or you can build it up into a thicker line too. The liquid is 100% waterproof and the applicator is like a felt tip so it is perfect for those who don’t like the typical liquid liner brushes. I rate this 10/10 and it is only £6.50 too.

IMG_5533 IMG_5534

  • Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream

I bought this in 2 shades this month – Cotton Candy and Fairy cake. Shown in the swatch above is Cotton Candy. I have loved both shades, but for me this is the more natural one. It applies as a cream and sets as almost a powder? It lasts ALL DAY and is certainly one for the handbag. I rate this as 9/10, c’mon collection, RELEASE MORE SHADES! For £2.99 I’ll buy many more!

So now that i’ve told you all about the brilliant makeup products that i’ve been loving, this month I thought that I’d include some other things that I just can’t put down!

IMG_5543 IMG_5542

Where in the world did I find these mind-blowing brushes? EBAY! I never in a month of Sundays thought to look on Ebay for makeup brushes. -Nor did I even think I needed to. I was getting a bit fed up with my current makeup brushes so, I though I should take the chance of buying them online. So, I came across this set of 10 Kabuki Style Professional Makeup Brush Set on For £7.45 I though it’d be worth the risk. and HELL, am I glad that I tried it! These are so wonderful. My makeup application is flawless. This WHOLE set added up as CHEAPER than one brush from Real Techniques. Honestly, I am stepping away from real techniques face brushes. They are NOTHING in comparison to these. I found that with RT’s stippling brush it would leave my skin with a poor foundation-finish. It LOOKED fake. Now, I am so happy with the finish that these brushes give! There are 5 big brushes and 5 smaller brushes. I would be more than happy to do a review/how to with each of these brushes if you’re interested – comment below if you would be! The link to these amazing brushes is: I truly truly urge you to purchase these. They are the best thing I have bought – They truly make your makeup look professional.

  • Macleans White & Shine toothpaste

I have never gotten my teeth whitened and nor do I plan to. There’s a whole load of negative aspects of getting your teeth whitened, So I just avoid it completely. So instead I use whitening toothpaste. I have tried many many many different kinds. Colgate, Arm & Hammer etc. This is one that I really love. It sells in places like superdrug, tesco etc. for around £1.90 when on offer. I love the minty taste of this which, for me, is a huge advantage because I hate that baking soda taste you get from other whitening tooth pastes. I really recommend this to those who want a whiter smile for a very cheap price!

  • Soft & Gentle Deodorant

I have this in Jasmine and Cocoa milk. I just like a nice smelling deodorant that keeps me from smelling! This lasts all day and is just a nice fresh smell for Springtime! 🙂 It sells at around £1.70 so definitely one to pick up!

  • Marc Jacobs Dot

I have been loving this perfume for about a year and a half now. My lovely boyfriend, Nathan bought me this for my Birthday. I suck at describing scents, so i’ll just paste what boots describes it as: ‘A signiture floral heart signed by beautiful jasmine and the elegant base of vanilla with musk leaving and addictive trail. Dot is the most detailed bottle yet, its signioture oversized cap features butterfly wings and a polka Dot ball centre. The circular bottle displays the branded Marc Jacobs gold plaque with desbossed frame logo and butterflies with pearl ball centre. Dot carries a lush, effervescent floral scent perfect for every eclectic and spontaneous woman.’ The 50 ml bottle sells at £50 which I know sounds verrryyyy steep, but i’ve had this a long time! Just one spray does you the whole day.

So that’s my March monthly faves finished! I know this was a longer post in comparison to what I usually do, but i’ve got a lot of free time now as i’m off school for 2 weeks! Do expect a lot of posts over the next fortnight! Also, I suggested 2 posts that I could do, if you would be interested! They were the brush tutorial/review and the contour, blush and highlight how to. If you would be interested in either, please comment below! 🙂

Thankkkssss for reading! If you’ve tried out, or are interested in knowing more about any of the products above I’d love to know! Hope you all have a lovely April and i’ll speak soon! 🙂

February Favourites

February has been surprisingly long but it’s still crazy that tomorrow will be March! I looked through my makeup bag and what i’ve been particularly been loving this month. So here’s a wee post about my favourites!

IMG_5450 IMG_5449

Eye Products:

Maybelline The Great Lash Mascara: I love this. It gives me perfect length and volume and makes my lashes have such a lovely and natural! It’s not OTT with one or two layers, but it can give big exaggerated eyes too with a few layers!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes: This is sooo not over rated. I love this for having a wee smokey eye!

NYC brow pencil: I’ve found myself using this one for the mornings that I just want a quick filled-in brow. It takes like 2 seconds each brow and I kinda dash it into my brows.

Maybelline gel liner: After fixing this formula with the eye drops (I explain it in an earlier post) I’ve gone back to this favourite! It is so easy to apply, wears all day and is perfect for the tight line too!

Makeup Gallery: Smoothly does it pressed powder  ‘Natural Beige 2′ I use this for both my face and my eyelids! It is so perfect, takes away any oils on my face and just leaves it looking nice and natural too!

Face Products

Rimmel: Match Perfection I’ve been using this one almost every morning. It leaves such a flawless, but more importantly a, natural finish! Great base!

Makeup Gallery Blusher: This looks like very bright and kinda intimidating (to me anyway!)  but it does give a nice little tint to my cheeks!

Sleek Face Form kit: I’ve just been using the contour powder and the highlight in this one! They are both so beautiful when they’re dusted on… I like this! 🙂
