My 2018 makeup

As if it has been a year since i last posted. Apologies for being MIA, i’ll blame being at uni. I got a random bit of inspo today after (yet another) makeup clearout – much to my sister’s joy, picking up all my rejects. I noticed that i’ve actually been ‘hitting pan’ on a lot of my products this year, mostly because i haven’t been buying as many and have been making myself actually use what i have (who’d figure). So, I thought i’d do a post about each of these products and give you my two-cents about them and whether i reckon you should pick them up or not.

Flawless 4 Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_9591.JPG

Does the state of the shadows show how well-loved this palette has been? I bought this just before 2017 Christmas i think, when i finally gave in to the warm toned trend that doesn’t seem to be going any time soon. This palette honestly is amazing.  For £8 and 36 shades it is at least worth picking it up to try out the warm colours. I find this palette is quite easy to do a soft, neutral look or an over-the-top bold and dramatic look. The softer purple shades are perfect for a neutral look while the red and orange shades are to die for. The palette has amazing shimmers, the gold and champagne being my 2 favourites. Warm toned mattes make it so easy to have a soft (or bold) crease while there are also the perfect base colours and an amazing dark brown and true black. There are perhaps 2 dud shades in this palette whilst the rest are all literally the same quality as Urban Decay. I definitely recommend you pick this one up.

Naked 2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_9590.JPG

Speaking of Urban Decay, another product which i’ve hit pan on is this. Whilst i like this for the very neutral shades, Do i think it’s worth £23… not really. It has the same shades you’d find basically in any bigger palette from the likes of MUA or Revolution. The colours blend in nicely together and the grey is a nice outer-corner colour. I like each shade in this and will continue to use it until it’s finished, but i won’t be repurchasing nor do i really recommend it. I also thought that 1 of the 6 shades is very bleh and doesn’t have much use, if it was a bit more pigmented it would be the perfect crease colour, but it’s just an in-between shade that doesn’t have much use.

NYX Highlight and Contour Kit 01

IMG_9588

Back onto a slightly more positive note, i really like this palette. The highlighter in this is so nice. It is quite a natural glow, but with a few coats can be built up nicely to a more dramatic look. The contour colour is the perfect ashy-tone for pale skin and the bronzers are quite nice at warming the skin up. I don’t find much use for the banana powder as my skin is way too pale and there’s a slightly darker glowey shade which i don’t have much use for. You can use the darker shades as nice eyeshadows also as they are quite dark. Do i think this is worth £19, probably, if you reckon you’ll be able to use each shade. They are extremely easy to blend and each are very pigmented.

The Body Shop Bronzer 01

IMG_9592.JPG

I really like this bronzer. It’s a nice one to warm up your skin if it’s a bit paler. It’s not too orangey, the perfect inbetween of warm and neutral. The powder has a lovely honeycomb texture on top and comes in a nice compact with a mirror. Perfect for travelling/your handbag. It costs £14, but i’ve had this for years and have only just hit pan on it. It’s really pigmented and very easy to blend in with the rest of your face makeup. I should also say that i haven’t found any bronzers a lot cheaper that i like as much as this, so worth spending a bit more on.

Boutique bronzer chock-a-block

IMG_9593

This bronzer is one from Sainsburys, for i think £9. It also comes in a lovely little compact with a mirror, perfect size for your handbag. The packaging is also very durable and i’m amazed mine hasn’t broken as i’ve brought this everywhere with me! I love using this as a contour all year round. Whilst the body shop bronzer is more of a summer one, i can use this as a bronzer during the summer but also it gets away with being a more natural sculpted look during the winter. This is so easy to work with and blends in so well. I  recommend this one 100%, whether you have a medium or pale skin tone.

Makeup Obsession C102 Light Contour Powder

IMG_9595

This is the perfect contour shade for pale skin. For £3 you have to try this!!! Although i use the NYX palette for highlighting and contour, i do still really love this and would almost recommend just getting this and an individual highlighter instead of getting the whole palette that NYX offers. This is really pigmented and doesn’t leave any harsh lines on your makeup.

Benefit High Beam

IMG_8010

I got a little gift sized pot in my stocking for Christmas this year, i believe it costs about 5 or 6 pounds. The full sized bottle is £22. I really liked this product. It gave a really nice, natural-looking glow which just makes you look healthy. However, With the amount of brands which have come out with very similar liquid highlights, I don’t think this is really worth the splurge. One which is basically the same product is one by Technic. You can buy it for under a fiver on the likes of amazon, or in bargain shops and it gives you basically the same look. I did really enjoy using this product. it blends in so nicely and it comes in packaging like nail polish, so is easy to use; dab with the brush and blend with your fingertips.

Freedom DuoBrow Soft brown

IMG_9594

This duo is sold for £2 and has lasted me 2 years now. It is the perfect cool-tone for my brown hair and is the perfect pigmentation. This works perfectly either by itself or with a pomade/pencil. (I think Freedom has now been changed to just Makeup Revolution now, so you can get it through them)

Rimmel Scandal eyes felt tip in Black

IMG_9596

I really liked this pen liner, it was really easy to use; the nib wasn’t too stiff nor too flimsy. It had nice pigmentation and was £5.99. It dried up after about 2 or 3 months use, which really isn’t that bad. I would have definitely picked this up again, if i hadn’t found another pen liner which is that bit more pigmented and a similar price (i’ll talk about this in a future post!) The Rimmel pen does however last all day and definitely trumped the L’oreal one.

And those were the products that i have hit pan on/finished in 2018. I hope you enjoyed reading this and perhaps inspired you to pick up one of these faves! I’ll hopefully be posting again soon, much much love,

Makeup First Impressions

So hi! 2 posts in 2 days.. crazy! Happy 2016, I hope you’re having a fab January! I was sitting today reading through others’ posts on wordpress and I realised that I never really do ‘first impressions’ posts. So, to have a bit more content i’ve decided to do a few!

So first off is a product from Freedom. This is a brand that is pretty new to the UK. When I was visiting Superdrug, I couldn’t help but pick a product up. I’d say this brand is very similar to the brand Makeup Revolution.

I picked up the product Eyebrow Pomade  in Ash brownThe brand describes this product as “Professional Bold Brow Impact from Pro Brow Pomade is the most effective ‘bullet-proof’ solution for HD Brows. Its gel like formula performs all day for bold brow impact. Available in eleven shades to complement all skin tones and hair colours. Perfect for creating professionally defined, natural-looking brows.

I’ve used this about 5 times and I really like it. I find it to be very dark on my brows, so would only really wear it for ‘statement brows‘ I apply this to my brows using an angled brush, dab excess product off the lid and then work it through to try and lighten it up. Today I decided to experiment using this as an eyeliner. It’s really easy to blend and give a nice natural/smokey look.

I don’t have any photos of it on my brows, but I have some swatches and 2 pictures of it as eyeliner.

The other product is one from Collection (once called Collection 2000). Collection is a brand that is very hit or miss with me. I’ve loved their eyeliners and only kinda liked their foundations. But, when I saw the ‘eyes uncovered‘ palette I fell in looove!

So, This palette sells for £3.99. It has 6 creamy, pigmented shades. This has 6 perfect shades for the perfect nude look. 3 lighter shades and 3 darker shades. I only bought this like 3 days ago, so I don’t have much of an opinion yet. None of the days has it creased though – and that’s without a primer! Brill!

Below are the swatches Left>Right

White chocolate, Buttercream, Biscuit, Chocolate milk, Brown sugar & Espresso.

The top row of swatches is them applied with a dampened applicator and the bottom is just normal.

The best of 2015 pt. 2

So here is the 2nd part of my favourite products of 2015! Hope you enjoy!;

EYES;

IMG_7293

Collection is a brand that are very hit or miss with me. This brow powder set however is one of the best that i’ve used. I love that this comes with 3 shades, so there is a shade for very natural brows and statement brows. perfecto! A brow gel that keeps the lil brow hairs neat and tidy is also included in this. IMG_7272

I’ve been trying so many different pen liners since 2014. This pen is amazing! Once again Maybelline steal the limelight for best drugstore pen liner. It is slim enough to give a natural line and the formula is amazing and stays on all day! The perfect black.IMG_7273

eyeko is a brand that i’ve never used before, until this product. My friend got this in a set, but she doesn’t use brown liner so passed it on to me. The tip of this is the best. The formula is wet, but dries in seconds. Nice dark brown shade also. I’d safely say this is the best eyeliner i’ve ever used!

IMG_7288

The best mascara award is joint between 2 maybelline favourites. The falsies give my lashes the perfect curl whilst the BIG EYES mascara opens them up like crazy! I love the lowerlash mascara wand that comes with this.

IMG_7285

Soap & Glory’s it’s about prime is the best primer i’ve ever used for my eyes. It stops my shadow from creasing and it makes the shadows much more pigmented and apply more smoothly. I like to apply this and then set it with pressed powder, then I apply my shadows.

Next to that is the Maybelline colour tattoo. I have it in bad to the bronze. The perfect base. Lovely shade and doesn’t crease. Easy to layer up and perfect on its own.

catrice

Once again Catrice, Starlight Expresso has made it to my favourites. I love to use this for the perfect smokey eye. It is also perfect to put in the crease for a nice, natural look.

IMG_7278

MUA are my favourite brand for palettes. This particular palette is heaven & earth. The perfect cool and warm tone browns and perfect highlight shades. These are so cheap and the quality is amazing!! This and the undress me 2 palette are amazinggg!

So I have 2 nude faves and one bold one. Naked Beige from Soap & Glory is the most comfortable, most flattering shade that i’ve ever used on my lips. The colour stays on nicely and feels amazing. Asia, by Rimmel London is a nice mauve shade which also has great lasting power.

Mac‘s Diva is such an amazing shade. The perfect dark red. It goes on creamy and then sets as a matte. Really lovely vampy shade.

IMG_7289

Nothing gives my foundation a better finish than when I apply it with a dampened beauty sponge by Real Techniques. This is the perfect applicator for a natural finish.

If I were only allowed 2 more shadow applicators it would have to be MUA’s E3 and No.7‘s Blend and Contour. The no.7 one is perfect for blending eyeshadows together while the MUA one is perfect for smoking the shades out.

IMG_7270

So my last 2015 favourite is the Body Shop‘s mango body whip. I love the creaminess of this fruity scented cream. After about 3 uses your skin is softer than a baby’s butt! Love love LOVE!

So I hope you all had a faaaab 2015 & I apologise for these being written so late. Hope to be doing more regular posts this year.. hopefully!

Much Love,

Stephanie!

The Best of 2015

I have found so many products in 2015 that I love, so let’s jump straight in and talk about it! I’ll do this in 2 separate posts, Face and eyes. So today,

Face:

IMG_7284

Micellar water has become a huge thing this year for us beauty fans. This Garnier one is the first that i’ve tried and it was a lucky one to start off with! This gets your makeup off in one wipe and leaves a nice feeling on your skin. – In comparison to some makeup removers which leave a greasy feeling on the skin.

The body shop have the best lip balms that i’ve ever used. They are so hydrating, nice and creamy and have amaaazing flavours!

Once again, Boots‘ moisturiser is in my favourites. Good price, nice smell (THE SMELLLL) and great on my skin!

IMG_7281kjl

For my Foundation fave it has to be Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. This is medium coverage and cancels out my red tones perfectly!

Pressed powder winner goes to Maybelline’s Matte Maker. This is the perfect pale powder which is perfect to give your skin a natural matte finish. This is perfect for your handbag & can be applied with either a brush or a sponge. Next to it is Collection’s sheer loose powder. This is what I use in the mornings to set my foundation. I use a big fluffy brush to apply this.

The best contour and highlight I have used (almost) everyday this year has been from Sleek’s face form in light. This is v v pigmented, so only a little is needed. It amazed me that I haven’t hit pan on this yet?! V V good. I bought this for about £12? Can’t really remember!

For blushers, i’ve been loving the Makeup Revolution Sugar & Spice Ultra Blush Palette. This palette is amazing. The most pigmented face products that i’ve ever used. There are 6 blushers and 2 highlights.

10557443_892035257481526_1028078837510250894_n

Real Techniques have found their way into my yearly faves! To the left is the Sculpting brush and beside it is the blush brush. The sculpting brush is amazing with applying bronzer/contour. It is so soft and easy to use. Meanwhile with the blusher brush, just the right amount of product transfers from the brush to your skin. It is really easy to blend with.

IMG_7286

MUA Cover and Conceal is the first concealer that I have properly fallen in love with. This is such a lovely brightening concealer & blends in beautifully.

Hope you have had a fab fab year! I swear i’ll be doing the other half of this post very very soon! Much love my beautiful friends!

What I’ve been LOVING this month

IMG_6728

I’ll start by saying that this isn’t my monthly favourites. This is a catch up post. I haven’t posted a blog post in a fortnight and I feel bad about that. There have been so many products that i’ve used and thought about how i’ll blog about them! So annoying because I just havent had the time! So, here I am with a few brilliant products that I think you should pick up for yourself!

IMG_6739 IMG_6730 IMG_6729 IMG_6740

The maybelline colour tattoos have been raved about by hundreds and thousands. A couple of months ago I picked up ‘bad to the bronze’ and honestly haven’t really given it a proper shot yet. But, I couldn’t help but add the colour ‘permanent taupe’ to my shopping bag when I was browsing through the isles of Boots. This, for me, is a multi-use product. I love this for a crease/outer corner eyeshadow, but i’ve also been loving it on my brows! Brows?! Yes, My brows!! a gray/brown shade is perfect for my eyebrows. It gives them shape without having too much drama. I’ve been using this pretty much everyday on my brows. Really lovely product! For £4.99 I highly recommend it!

IMG_6733

IMG_6734 IMG_6735

Next up is another brow product. This is the Collection Work The Colour Brunette Eyebrow kit. This sells at £3.99. You get 5 different things in this little set. You get your 3 brow shades, your little applicator and a clear mascara/gel. The three shades in this are perfect. I mix the lighter brown with the pales shade to do an everyday brow and I’d mix the darkest with the lightest for a statement brow. Really brilliant quality! This stuff stays on all day too! The mascara is the best gel i’ve ever used on my brows. I love how it is a plastic applicator, not a fibre-y one like the majority of others. it combs through the brows easily without leaving a ‘wet’ feeling. Really brilliant product and i recommend it to all!

IMG_6737 IMG_6738

Recently I picked up an eye primer crayon by NYC in Superdrug. This sells for £3.49. It is called the NYC City Proof 24 hour eye primer. I apply a little swipe of this on my eyelids and then rub it in with my finger. This then acts as a base, making any eyeshadows applied on top of it much more vibrant, allowing their true colour to show. This is cheap, easy to use and longlasting, I recommend this to beginners and basically everyone else too, it’s a makeup bag essential for me!

IMG_6741 IMG_6742

The Body Shop’s honey bronzer, for £13, has been used everyday since I bought it earlier in the Summer. This is the perfect contour/bronzer for the paler girls. I got this in the lightest shade. It has a slight gray undertone to it, so it doesn’t leave you with that orange contoured finish! This is so soft to touch too and blends in beautifully & with ease.

IMG_6743 IMG_6744

I’ve never been a huge fan of pressed powders. I gave up after 1 too many failures, and by this I mean them breaking at a little drop and the fact that many just apply very heavily and make your face caked! But, in savers, I picked up Maybelline’s new Matte Maker mattifying powder in ’10 Classic Ivory’. This matches my skin perfectly. This mattifies my skin perfectly. This lasts for a good 3-4 hours perfectly. This is perfect. Recently i’ve just been wearing moisturiser with this powder on top to give my skin a bit of a rest (I was getting a lot of break outs this Summer!) and I just love the finish this gives to my skin! I apply this using my large fluffy brush by Real Techniques. This sells at Boots for £3.99.

IMG_6736

Next up to talk about are the 2 Real Techniques brushes that I’ve been loving. If you’ve read my blog for long, you’d know that honestly i’m not a huge fan of Real Techniques, I have found cheaper and better brushes in smaller brands, so I don’t see the hype. BUT, for their powder brushes i’m in LOVE! I love their huge face powder brush and recently added to my favourites are the contour and blush brushes. the contour one I use to carve out my cheek bones (using the body shop bronzer mentioned above) and I just love the finish it gives. It picks up just the right amount of product and blends it in beautifully. The bristles on this are compact and very soft. As for the bluisher brush, i’ve needed to replace my old blush brush for donkeys now, so I finally splurged and picked this up. The bristles are still soft, but much looser. This blends in the blusher beautifully. Both of these brushes sell at £9.99.

IMG_6731

Lastly, I picked up Zoella’s ‘Blissful Mistful’ body spray for £8. I love the floral sweet scent of this. It really brightens my mood when i’m wearing this. I much prefer this to the other perfume she has as it is too sweet & fruity for me! But, this one is a new favourite! The bottle is very cute too! I love the little polka dot theme that she has going for her products!

So that’s all for today! I hope you have been having a really lovely August! Have there been any products that you’ve been loving recently? i’d love to know all about them! Sorry for the lack of posts, i’ll hopefully get back into the routine of things when I’m back at school! As always, much love,

Stephanie x
