My Top 5: Bodycare & haircare

So the end is near with my ‘Top 5’ series! I thought because there isn’t much to say about haircare or skincare that I should just throw them into the same post!

So, My top 5: Haircare

Argan Oil Shampoo £2.50

So there are many different shampoos with the latest raved about hair care ingredient- Argan oil! This is the first i’ve personally used and I love it! When I use this it makes my hair so irresistibly soft and smooth and shiny and and and!! It’s a cheap price for such a lovable product!

Lee Stafford Blow Dry Your Hair Faster £6.99

This little gem has been used every time I’m blow drying my hair for the past 3 years. I spray this onto my wet hair, then I brush through it (It also acts as a detangler) and then blow dry it. It protects your hair from up to 220 C it is amazing and I recommend it to everyone! (Also yes, I feel it down speed up your drying!)

L’Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Styling Spray Straight £5.99

This product claims to protect against heat up to 230°C while locking in a sleek and straight look for up to 3 days. I agree with the protection and sleek claim, however my hair is naturally very curly so it would be a miracle if any product could keep my hair straight for longer than a day! The smell of this isn’t too strong and the spray itself disperses the product throughout the hair nicely!

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment £8.49

This is my favourite hair product of all time. I have purchased and repurchased this a billion times! I apply this to my roots and let it sit for up to 2 hours on my scalp! It smells incredible and leaves your hair looking so healthy and soft and shiny etc etc. I’d say this does increase your hair growth, so does what it says on the tin!

LUSH Shampoo bar £5.75+

So I like these simply because of their convenience! I have 3 different bars. They smell incredible and lather up in your hair very well. Perhaps I just need to find a better product that suits my hair better in their solid shampoo range, because there’s no denying this is a good product! This is perfect for holidays! Leaves your hair in good condition also! 🙂

My Top 5: Bodycare

So here are my top 3 moisturisers. Left>Right

The Body Shop Mango Body Whip £8

This amazing scented lotion truly makes your skin soft. The body shop are always doing sales too, so you can get this at a much cheaper price!

I love blueberry & smoothie body butter £2

When in need of a basic moisturiser, this fruity scented body butter is nice and creamy and leaves your skin nice and soft! It sinks into the skin pretty quickly too.

Garnier intensive 7 days Moisturising gel cream £3.15

This is a weird one. It comes out as a gel/cream texture! it sinks into your skin as fast as a gel does and has a fresh scent.

The Body Shop Body Butter chocolate body butter £2.50

50ml sounds like a very small amount of product, when it arrived in the post I was originally disappointed with how little you get. But, you need the tiniest amount. This is the only body butter than I have used that is literally like butter! It is solid and melts into your skin. It smells divineeeeeeee! It is very hydrating on the skin and leaves it so smooth to touch!

Soft & gentle 48 hour protection £1-3

This is my favourite of all deoderant brands. This comes in such lovely scents that linger under your arms all day! Not even a hint of sweat!

So I have 2 more posts to do, to finish off my top 5 series and that’s my last 2 eye palette favourites. So, keep an eye out for those, the should be finished soon!

My top 5: Brushes

So you have all the products that you love to use to make you feel you’re looking your best. But there is one huge factor that you might be overlooking: Makeup brushes.  Just like any other task, having the right tools for the job make the finished product look that little bit better. There are many benefits to using brushes instead of your fingers to apply makeup. You’ll get a much more even coverage using a brush, and a better polished finish. It’s also more sanitary to use a brush, and this is especially important for acne-prone skin as it will help you prevent breakouts on your face. Just remember to wash your brushes frequently to remove dirt and buildup from the bristles. Most brushes can be washed with baby shampoo and warm water, but check packaging instruction for best results.

Obviously there are hundreds of makeup brushes to choose from. I honestly haven’t tried that many, but here are my top 5:

Real Techniques Powder brush

Real Techniques: Powder brush 1401 £12.99

It is very soft and stays that way, even after several years of use and washing. It has never shed a single hair the whole time. The quality is just as good today as it was when I bought it a few years ago. It is quite a bit larger, and more dense, than many other powder brushes (which is good because I’ve always found them slightly too small). It’s just the right size for all over face powder. It buffs very lightly due to how soft it is which gives a really soft-focused, natural look.Overall, the quality is very high, the price is reasonable and the effect is just what I want out of a powder brush. Only downside would be the rather large base of the handle. This is the most expensive of my brushes as I haven’t found a cheaper dupe.

Tapered Stippling brush

Tapered stippling brush £0.54

So I purchased 10 stippling/kabuki brushes online a while back. They are such brilliant quality. I will give the link at the end of this post for the brushes. I use this brush to apply highlighter and contour. it gives you such a precise finish and is very easy to use for blending things in.

Stippling flat top

Stippling kabuki brush £0.54

I use this every day for blending in your foundation. It gives you such a flawless finish. Your skin never looks cakey after using this! I have previously purchased Real Technique’s stippling brush and I am telling you now, this is 100x better! It is also a crazy amount cheaper.

Fluffy Blending MUA E3

MUA E3 blending and shadow brush £1.95

This is perfect for finishing off your shadow looks. This blends it into the perfect smokey eye! I’ve used a few different blending brushes before, but this is by far my favourite. It is so lovely and soft, it’s dense, but not too dense and it picks up just the right amount of product. I actually bought 2 of these brushes – 1 to keep clean and blend out your looks & 2 to apply shadows.

Small stippling brush

Small Stippling brush £0.54

I have started using this brush a lot more recently. It really is a multi-purpose tool! It can be used for adding concealer, blending out shadows and a few other things too! It is very fluffy, blends things in like a dream and is easy to control also.

Flast Shadow Brusheee

Flat Eyeshadow brush £3.50

So I bought this one in a big 32 brush set. Flat shadow brushes are perfect for applying your eyeshadow. I use this for a base layer shadow applier. This can also be used to apply concealer. I use this to apply either powder or cream eyeshadows.

So here are the 2 links

For the kabuki set

For the 32 PCS set

So are there any makeup brushes that you like? I’d love to know!

My Top 5: Foundation

So foundation is another staple in many girls’ makeup bags. Whether your skin is dry, acne prone or oily, there’s a foundation made for your skin type! But, I think that, foundation is one of the hardest of makeup products to shop for. Not only are you looking for your skin type, but you’re also looking for one that matches your skin tone. Let’s face it, not many of us want to look like an oompa-loompa or a ghost!

So, here are my top 5 picks. Please note, I have normal, pale skin. So if you have either oily or dry skin you might find any one of these products isn’t for you!

Dream Satin Liquid

Maybelline New York – Dream Satin Liquid £7.99

So maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands. However there is one disappointing part about Maybelline – their range of shades in foundation. I, being very pale, can only really wear their foundations in the Summer. I’m in the shade 04 Light porcelain. The formula of this is quite thick, but blends in so beautifully. You aren’t left with cakey skin, but a nice satin finish. Personally, I like to finish my face off with a coat of powder just to help this to stay on the face longer.

True Match

L’oreal Paris – the foundation True Match £9.99

If you’re looking for a quality foundation, this is the one. It is so liquidy and blends right into your skin, leaving a very natural flawless finish. Unlike Maybelline, L’oreal provide 23 different shades to choose from. This is a non-greasy finish, I wouldn’t even use powder to set it. This does a good job at covering redness and dark circles, so I don’t fin that concealer is necessary when using this!

Fit Me

Maybelline New York – Fit Me Anti-Shine Stick £8.99

Again with the shades, Maybelline, 6 simply isn’t enough! But, nonetheless, I picked it up anyway. However, this is a good product for me. It is a sheer coverage that, in a way, adapts to my skin colour. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t take much. It covers up the uneven tone. This is perfect for your handbag also as all you need is your fingertips to blend it out! I wouldn’t use this for everyday use, but it id definitely one that stays in my handbag/travel bag.

Rimmel Match Perfection

Rimmel London – Match Perfection £6.99

So i’m not that big of a fan of Rimmel products, but their face products are complete winners! 10 different shades to choose from means that there is one pale enough for me! I have this in 010 Light porcelain. I find that this formula blends into my skin perfectly. I use half a pump and it covers my whole face. I use a stippling brush to buff this in. It blends in so easily and just leaves your skin with a lovely glow. This would be a light- medium coverage. I do recommend setting this with powder though!

Lasting Perfection

Collection – Lasting Perfection £5.99

So everybody knows about the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Knowing this, I couldn’t help but pick up the foundation. This is a very high coverage foundation. It leaves your skin with a matte finish. This only comes in 6 shades, so it is a little bit dark on me, but when I set it with a light powder i feel it matches me OK.. This is very thick, so if you’re looking a lighter look, you could mix it with a bit of moisturiser! But, this stays on all day and leaves your skin looking flawless!

Here are swatches from each foundation:

All labelled swatched

I know some of them really look too dark for me, but this is the product alone, I find when blended they suit my skin just fine! 🙂

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Hey friends! I’ve spent literally about 2 hours sorting out my next 3 blog posts today. I’m really happy with the pictures I got for this mascara post, so I hope you enjoy it!

Mascara is basically a staple in every girl’s makeup bag. Mascara makes  your makeup look. Without it I feel the look is very dull and you just look a bit tired. So, here are my top 5 mascaras.

Big Eyes Maybelline

Maybelline – Big Eyes £8.99

This is a recent favourite of mine. This duo-ended brush is perfect for a wide-eyed look. The upper lashes end is a lovely curved brush. It pushes your lashes up producing a volumised full fan effect. Meanwhile, for your bottom lashes the brush is much smaller and slimmer. I use only a little (I have pretty long lashes) to create a very open-eyed effect. I refuse to use anything else on my lower lashes, this is perfect!

The Colossal Maybelline Volume Express

Maybelline – Colossal Volum’ Express Smokey Eye  £7.99

I love this for an every day mascara. This truly voluminises your lashes in such a beautiful, natural way. One coat for flirty lashes and two for insane bold eyes! This is a dark black mascara creating definition.

The Falsies Volume express

Maybelline – The Falsies Volum’ Express Black Drama £7.99

This is the one that everyone, and their mother, knows about. This was actually the second product from ‘the falsies’ range. It does create a false lash effect, there’s no doubt about that, however I do prefer others to this one. The reason for this is because of the bend in the wand. I find it more difficult to reach all my lashes using the wand. But, I do love this nonetheless. This is nice when you’re doing a cat eye. 🙂

The Falsies Flared

Maybelline – The Falsies Flared £7.99

So this was the first Maybelline mascara that I bought. This is my favourite in their falsies range. I love the curl that it gives your lashes (This photo was without an eyelash curler). It adds brilliant length and a lovely curl to the lashes. This is an all-time favourite of mine and I recommend it to everyone!

17 wild curls - black

Seventeen – Wild Curls £5.99

So it would appear that this isn’t actually available anymore… 😦 This was my first proper mascara. It was amazing for that perfect curl in the lashes. It came in a lovely natural brown colour as well as this brilliant black. Such a shame that it’s not sold anymore as it was a long-time favourite. Oh well. Seventeen do have lovely mascara wands, however I find that their formula is rather poor. It would flake off throughout the day for me.

So, here are each of the mascara looks:

AllEach of these are brilliant. Hope you enjoyed reading this post!

Got a few more left of the ‘top 5’ series and then I have a few more things planned for after! I’d love to know which mascaras you like! If you didn’t notice Maybelline is the only brand that I really trust with eye products… Wouldn’t hurt to try some new ones! 🙂

My Top 5; Fragrance

So I post a lot about things beauty related, but for my ‘Top 5 Series’ I thought i’d talk about perfumes/fragrances also!

I love perfume! I used to wear a lot of Britney Spear’s perfumes, but now I’m a huge fan of Marc Jacobs’ collection. Soooo, here are my top 5;

download (2)

Marc Jacobs Eau So Fresh

So this costs £55.50 for 75ml. This is the perfect every day perfume for a lovely feminine scent. I think this smells a little like parma violets. It is such a soft sweet smell, maybe a bit of pear too!

Marc Jacobs dot

For 50ml this is £49.50. I feel in comparison to the daisy one this is a little more fruity. It smells a lot fresher and smells of red berries.

Thierry Mugler

Thierry Mugler Angel

For 50ml this one costs £64.50. I only have this one as a sample, but it smells so amazing. I will definitely be purchasing once I finish it off. This is very vanilla-ey with like chocolate scents to it? It is just so nice! I can’t help but to smell my wrists when I wear it!

Hidden Fantasy

Britney Spears Hidden Fantasy

For 100ml this costs £17.99. This is by far the cheapest of my favourites and it lasts years!! This is just a casual scent that is light and fruity!

Malibu Beach

Hollister Malibu Beach

For a regular sized bottle it costs £12. This is such a woody vanilla scent. I think it is so perfect for a girly scent! This one lasts absolute donkeys also – one squirt of the spray will last you all day! Really brilliant one!

My Top 5: Palettes

On with the ‘top 5’ eyeshadow palettes. I’m almost certain this is the third product within this title.

pigments Palette

MUA Ever After – Matte Palette ;£4

I love each of these shades, they have such a gorgeous finish. they blend in really well and I typically use these to add depth to my makeup looks. There are 10 shades in this.

I swatched them in the first picture. The top row first then the bottom row.

I recommend this to those who like matte shadows. Also, really great value!

My Top 5: Skincare

Taking care of your skin is so important. There’s nothing better than feeling good in your skin and with these 5 products my skin glows!:)

Boots Essentials Cucumber Moisturising Cream – £1.50

I love this stuff. Every morning, without fail, I apply this before my makeup. This leaves your skin feeling so soft. It has such a refreshing scent and feels like such a high-end product, it’s crazy! For less than £2 for a product that has lasted me about 3 months I can honestly say this is my favourite every day product.

Boots tea tree witch hazel day and night moisturisers

The day moisturiser (£3.59) & Night Treatment (£2.99) are brilliant for spot/acne prone skin. They really cleared my skin up when I was more spotty. I love how quickly this sinks into the skin. It applies so brilliantly like it is very fresh feeling on the skin. If you have either acne scarring or are just spotty, this is perfect to clear everything up!

No.7 Soft & Soothed gentle cleanser; £9

Honestly, I don’t use this often. But, for when I’m wearing waterproof makeup this takes it off with ease. It’s a nice creamy product This is a complete luxury product for me, but it could be used every day.

Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Scrub – £4.99

Black heads are gone when using this. Any bumpy pores vanish after one use! I apply cleanser first in the shower and then this. It has a lovely cold tingle on the skin… yenno the kind where you can literally feel your skin getting cleaned!

Tesco – Ultra soft Fragrance Free Ultra Soft wipes £0.64

Lastly is baby wipes. I have used different brands of face and baby wipes for years. But, not one of them are as good as Tesco’s home brand. For less than a quid there really is no competition! This takes off all my makeup each night and it’s brilliant! Why spend £3 on wipes when you can spend less than £1?

So those are my top 5 Skincare products! I hope you enjoyed reading!
