April Favourites/empties

Well hello there! Got a monthly favourite post for ya. Got a good few products which i was loving in the months of Marsh andApril, so let’s see what they were!

I’ll start of with one that i rarely talk about – face and hair products:

No.7 is well known for its brilliant skincare products. I’ve use this cleansing lotion after washing my face with another product (which will be talked about in a post coming up soon) I apply like 10 pumps onto my face, leave it for like a minute to work its magic and then wash off with water and pat dry with a towel. My skin has definitely become much more smooth and this gets off all of my makeup without fail. I’ve been using this every night, mostly to use it up before i go home for Summer. I don’t honestly think i’ll buy another after this is used up however, simply because it’s just an extra step which i don’t overly see the need for.   I’d much rather use a foaming cleanser than a creamy one.

Garnier Ultimate Blends coconut scented shampoo is gorgeousssssss. This lathers up so nicely in the hair and leaves it smelling tropical afterwards. Will deffo be repurchasing next time at the shops, if not this specific one then another from the ultimate blends range.

Finally i used up Neutrogena’s grapefruit facial wash. This is nice enough, lathered up nicely, took my makeup off and left my skin feeling fresh in the shower. I won’t be repurchasing this however, simply because i’ve found another cleanser which suits my skin type better.

Oh my sweet mother of God have i enjoyed each of these products this month??? (yes, yes i have). I’ll start with the highlighter, by technic. This is the best highlighter for pale skin that i have ever used. This is so easy to apply. Whether this be with your fingers, a compact brush or a fan brush, it blends in so effortlessly into the skin and leaves you looking so glowey-from-within. WOW! This was so cheap as well. Deffo deffo recommend to you.

Next i’ll talk about the Boutique bronzer. I got this from Sainsbury’s like last February. I wasn’t overly fussed about it back then though. I picked this back up in about December and fell in love. I think i’ve gotten better at applying this kind of product and now it’s one that i can’t go out without using! Think i got this for about £10, not overly sure. Definitely recommend this though, not too pigmented and easy to work with. Really really love it!

The Maybelline Fit Me stick foundation is the next foundation i have moved on to for me to finish up. Have to say though, it is really very good. It’s a quick and easy product to apply. Just a few swipes on the face, some extra ones in the problem areas and blend out with either my fingers or a beauty sponge. This gives a medium to full coverage (if wanted), which i really like. Deffo recommend this one to people who like a quick product to use. This will be packed for my Summer holiday.

The tools above have been v much enjoyed this month. I like the Real Techniques powder brush to buff in some powder to set the foundation while i like their miracle complexion sponge to give a natural finish to my foundation.

Blurry photo, apologies. Here i have Natural Collection’s brow pencil, Maybelline’s linerefine liner, collection’s supersize fat lash mascara and Miss sporty’s waterproof liquid liner.

Natural Collection’s brow pencil is the best brow product i’ve used, period. £1.99 for the perfect colour, not too waxy and not too stiff; perfect. Think there are 3 shades also, one for blondes, black hair and brunettes.

Maybelline’s linerefine eyeliner is really nice to add to the waterline to smoke it out. Probs won’t repurchase, but nice while it lasts. Just pulls a look together though, nice nice nice.

Lastly Miss Sporty’s waterproof liner is the best liner i’ve ever bought. This is so easy to apply, has the perfect thin nib and the formula is 100% waterproof. Recommend this over any that i’ve tried. This is one of the few products which i am 100% repurchasing; why get something which mightn’t be as good, it’s less than £3?!??!

Collection’s Fat Lash has actually been really nice to use. I bought this a while ago as a 3 for 2 sale in Superdrug because i was out of mascara, so wasn’t expecting overly much. But yaaa, only really need one coat for thick and lengthy lashes. Definitely recommend this to those on a budget.

Since i started to grow my nails i’ve been painting them a good bit. I do prefer just having a nice wash of colour though, nothing too out-there, so soft pinks are my comfort zone. Here are 2, one from rimmel and one from a random company, High Brow. Got both in B&M bargains dead cheap. The highbrow one is more pigmented while the rimmel one is just a wash of colour and adds shine. Like them both though. Recommend both, if you see them about.

OoOoOo, another random one for me! My mum sent me a wee care package around St. Patrick’s Day (yes i’m Irish, so everything was green and chirpy). In this package of green goodies was a vaseline tin. It has been YEARSSSSSSSSS since i used these. In fact, i can tell you how many; 8 years. 8 years ago, when i was at the start of highschool. I just phased out of using this and got more into wearing chapsticks. Have to say though, really been enjoying this. It applies a nice wee bit of shine and is a nice lipstick topper.

Next up is my Marc Jacob’s Daisy perfume. I’ve loved this for yearsssssssss. Haven’t been using a lot of it since going to uni, simply because haven’t overly felt the desire nor need to. This month i have been though, probably because of the brighter mornings and sunnier days. More in the mood!

Lastly is my roll-on deodorant by Dove. Keeps me smelling fresh and dry all day and doesn’t stain my tops. Anything else i need to say?

Lastly is my Revolution 144 Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette Collection. This was mentioned in a previous post in a bit better detail with some swatches earlier this week, read here. As you can see, i’ve done some ‘x’ marks over some eyeshadows, this is so i can remember which i like the most. Working my way through the palette quite well, especially in these brighter days, just motivating me to wear shimmery and glittery shadows.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd those were my favourites. What have you liked these past few months? Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?

Thanks for reading,

The next foundation i’m buying…

So i said in a previous post that i’m trying to use up all my products before buying a new one. I do have a plan for which products i’m going to be buying when i run out of my staples though, so far i know which foundation… that’s it! So anyway, i’ll tell you which and why.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Nude Foundation.

Image result for rimmel lasting finish nude foundation

Rimmel always nail it when it comes to having light enough tones for pale skin. I got a sample of this like a year ago and i remember loving it. Its ‘new lightweight formula blends smoothly and evenly hiding fine lines & imperfections for a poreless, seamless complexion. The fluid texture is enhanced with a moisturising serum gel for a feeling like you’re wearing nothing at all. Natural-looking, flawless coverage, without the weight. Your coverage remains true from morning to night with a rub and smudge resistant formula for up to 25 hours.’ – Basically it’s got the perfect formula for everyday use.

Because i do have drier skin i prefer this style of foundation. You can buy this in Boots/Superdrug for £8. Shall do a post when i actually buy this and what i think of it.

So thanks for reading! Have you got a foundation you’d recommend? Have you tried this one? What did you think of it? Love to hear what you think!

My opinion vs Youtube

So we all have seen the ‘my drugstore/highstreet favourite makeup products’ videos by our favourite youtubers. So i thought i would watch a few and see if any matched mine/ any that i had a different experience with, so let’s get on with it, eh? (What works for one may not for another)

Image result for real techniques

  • Real Techniques Brushes/Applicators

Have to agree with this one; mostly. The most talked about one was the beauty sponge that they do. I love this, especially when dampened. Applies all foundation in a flawless way!

Image result for rimmel foundations

  • Rimmel Foundations

This i agree with, they are brilliant for paler skins and have a range of different formulas depending on what you want. However, did not like the wake me up foundation – it has literal glitter chunks in it????Not for me, thankyou.

Image result for l'oreal true match foundation

  • L’oreal true match

I bought this ages ago. All that needs to be said is that I finished it, but haven’t and probably won’t be in a rush to repurchase it. It was ok, just didn’t overly impress me. Too liquid-y. Feel it highlighted dry areas around my nose also.

Image result for bourjois healthy mix foundation

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation

Definitely loved this one. Lovely smell, relatively cheap and sat beautifully on my skin. Only comes in a few shades though, but matches mine nicely. Nice glowey finish on the skin. This will be one that i will buy again, soon, soon.

Image result for collection lasting perfection concealer

  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

I just haven’t had the same experience most seem to have had with this one. I just found this really cakey, didn’t blend whatsoever and didn’t match my skintone. Perhaps it has changed its formula – i have seen it does a lighter shade now, so may try this one again?

Image result for sleek contour kit

  • Sleek contour palette

Nope, too dark for pale skin, doesn’t blend at all. Highlighter is clumpy and doesn’t do much?? Nope nope nope. V disappointed in this.

Image result for Bodyshop bronzer

  • The Body Shop Bronzer

Have to agree with this one, really enjoyed this one for my pale skin, nice and light. Will definitely be using this again over the summer months as it is a bronzer, not a contour; if you get me.

Image result for sleek eyeshadow palette

  • Sleek eyeshadow palletes

This i have to agree with. The pigmentation is so nice. So buttery and easy to blend in. A bit expensive though, but if you have the money deffo worth it. Think they do a good few unique shades too that you wouldn’t find elsewhere! I really like their shimmery and matte shades. Reallyyyyy niiiice.

Image result for maybelline brow

  • Maybelline brow pencils

I used to agree with this, it was my first brow product that i used. I think that i’ve just started to find better products since. I find this a bit too waxy for me now.

Image result for l'oreal felt tip eyeliner

  • L’oreal felt tip liners

Nooooooooo. For me this smudges everywhere! Not at all waterproof, impossible to have anything stay on my lids personally. It has great pigmentation, great nib and is v easy to use, just the formula completely lets it down for me. Maybe it is just the one that i used though, perhaps there are other l’oreal felt tip liners which are more waterproof.

Image result for Barry m lip liner

  • Barry M Lip Liners

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas. I love the lipliner that came with the lipkit duo thing that i got a while back. It is so creamy and easy to use. One of my most-reached for lip liners. They’re cheap as well, definitely agree with this one!

Related image

  • Rimmel Lip Liners

Has to be my favourite of the lip liners that i have. I love their shade range and the creaminess of the products. Love the twist up liners and also the sharpening ones. 100% recommend these and prefer them the the mac ones also.

Image result for kate moss lipsticks

  • Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks

I’m Neutral on these actually. Some i like, others i think are just meh. Lipsticks are very personal i think though. Depends what shade, finish etc. you’re looking for. There have been a good few that i just didn’t like at all; the shimmery ones, and some that i lovvveeee; the brown/neutral (shade 48) toned ones. Although they’re cheap enough, i just am not overly drawn to rimmel for lipsticks.

Image result for Nyx matte lipcream

  • NYX Matte Lip Creams

yenno what, i’m not overly fussed. I only have 2; a berry red and a brown matte. They sit ok on the lips, don’t overly fully set, a factor which i don’t like. The shade range is massive though, so you will probably find something that tickles your fancy. Just not really the brand that i would go to for liquid lipstick though.  I hear the Sand Storm liquid lippy is good though, so might try it out.

So I hope you enjoyed this kind of post? Just thought it would be cool to hear a range of opinions on products. Are there any of these which you’ve used/have an opinion on? Please comment below! Good to hear a range of opinions!

Finishing products off – Like or hate?

Let’s get back into the swing of things, or at least try. Hello my lovely lovely reader, hope you’re having a brilliant week and a good 2017. It’s getting close to Summer, which i think is really exciting as i’m going on le holidays to Madeira with the lovely boyfriend! (Eeeeek!) Have you got any plans for your summer yet?

Over the past month i’ve really condensed my makeup collection to my absolute favourites, simply because i’ve got way too much which just sits in my drawer. I did this by using up older products and also giving things to friends. So I thought i’d talk about the products which i did use up and have reintroduced myself to and whether or not i’ll repurchase when they are finished.

SO: WHAT have i used?

IMG_9328

I’ve been using the primer again, which i’ve found can go quite bally under certain foundations, which is quite annoying. The Fit me matte and poreless is ok, but it’s a fraction too dark for my skin, so i’m going to use it over the Summer. I finished the Super Stay by Maybelline, i actually really enjoyed using it, but made sure i had my skin v moisturised before applying it because it kinda showed flaky skin where i didn’t even know i had it! (I don’t think i’ll buy this one again). The MUA Matte foundation i got very annoyed with. It was a good shade for pale skin, but it was SOOOOOOOO oily on me and i just didn’t understand why!! This was a product i gave to a friend. Never got along with the Benefit Boi-ing concealer, so gave it away as it was too heavy and really showed up dry areas on my skin. Lastly, I like the Miss Sporty Perfect Stay concealer, but it is a littttle bit too orange toned for me. I do like it, but will most likely not buy it again.

IMG_7285

I’ve been using the Soap & Glory It’s About Prime eyeshadow primer every day underneath my shadow as i’m determined to finish it. I bought this a few years ago and did like it. It is an OK product, i genuinely don’t mind it. I have just found so many better products which i prefer now, one of which being the creme de rose colour tattoo by maybelline (That’s not the one seen in the picture aboveeee). But, I swear i will finish this Soap & Glory primer by the time i’m moving out of uni. (Have until start of June!)

IMG_7282

I never really actually got into Sleek’s face kit thing. The contour was too dark, didn’t like the blusher and the highlighter was only ok. I’m probably just too pale for this palette, i’ve heard many rave about this palette, personally i just don’t think it’s at all worth the hype. Gave this to a more tanned friend of mine, hope she has better luck with it.

10557443_892035257481526_1028078837510250894_n

The Real Technique’s Contour brush – the brush to the left, has been passed on to a friend. I don’t understand this brush. This shouldn’t be used for contour!!! This is much too dense, nobody wants a harsh contour, surely??? Just didn’t get along with this brush at all, much prefer a small fluffier brush to apply my contour/bronzer. Sorry Real Techniques!

Miss Sporty’s Waterproof Liquid Liner is one which i’m trying to finish. Have to say, I love this. Don’t know why i haven’t been using it prior to my makeup clearout. This stays on my eyes all day, no flakes, no smudges. It has the perfect felt tip nib which creates a pointed cat eye easily. You can buy this, in Superdrug, for less than £3. Seriously, give it a try! I will deffo repurchase when this is finished.

Think i’ll finish this post on that note, didn’t realise the amount of negative things i had to say about the other products – oops! So, look out for another post similar to this.

Thanks for reading!

July Makeup Favourites

Annnd i’m back to the monthly favourites! I’ve been really bad with these this year (let’s blame this one the 3 coursework based A levels, eh?). I’ve found some really good beauty items this month but some more towards the end of the month, so i didn’t really see it as fair to include them… look out for them next month. 😉

So, here are my July Gems:

IMG_9281

FACEY

I’ll start off with my face powders. Seen above are my 2 Soap and Glory blushers and my MUA face powder. Left>>Right Love at First Blush, Peach Party, The Body Shop Honey Bronzer & Skin Define Hydro Powder.

Love at First Blush

This shimmery blusher costs £11. It has to be said that Soap & Glory is more on the high end side of ‘drugstore’ brands. But. This is the perfect Summer blusher. This is a beautiful shimmery shimmery shimmery blusher… Did I mention that it is shimmery? This is a multi shade one too, so if you want simply the highlighter shade you can choose this with a smaller brush. I however just use a blush brush and sweep it through the whole product. You can use a small amount for a subtle glow of pink, or build it up for that wow-look.

Peach Party

Now I definitely didn’t like this at first. This is neither a blusher nor a bronzer, it’s smack bang in the middle, and at first I didn’t know how to work with this. I’ll admit that I had this unused for about a year/year and a half. I picked it out this Summer though and i am in love with the look that it gives. I wear this only really on my cheeks, not around my face like I would a bronzer. I will do a look with this at some stage and show you how it gives the face a lovely Summer glow. This also costs £11.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

I use the mirror that this has in it everyday to apply my makeup … just as a side-note. This is perfect for us pale girls to use as a soft and subtle bronzer. It’s matte, but more orangey toned, so doesn’t make a good contour. I put this on my cheeks, forehead and just below my chin to get a nice soft summer-skin look. This costs £13.

Skin Define Hydro Powder

I’ve been talking about this powder in quite a few posts recently. But, here I am again! I love this powder. I have finally found the perfect powder for me. This is so finely milled, so you only need a tiny amount on your brush to set your makeup. As I only use a small amount, I never look cakey with this. A perfect product at a perfect, affordable price, only £3. Thanks, MUA.

IMG_9295

Matte Foundation Shade 1 Soft Sand

This was the product that brought me back to foundations. This applies so smoothly on my skin, which is weird as it is a matte one – matte foundations tend to emphasise your pores etc. Just checked online, it looks like they have either repackaged/reformulated this, and the price for it now is £4. This just gives your skin a natural look and has a buildable coverage. Can’t remember it being able to last all day though.

IMG_9294

Matte & Poreless foundation, 105

I’m in love with this foundation. For only £5.99 this is a complete steal in comparison to other ‘drugstore’ brands’ foundation.  I recently did a full review on this, read it *here* just to avoid repetition.

IMG_9293

Stay Perfect 10 hour 001 light

Miss Sporty are a lesser-known and lesser-raved about brand. A lot of their products are misses, but this one is a complete win. This is £2.99. It blends into the skin so easily as it is so creamy. I dab this into my skin using my finger. It’s easy to layer also. Perfect for brightening up the under eyes, just set it with a light powder. One of the only concealer that i’ve found in the drugstore that is pale enough for my skin.

EYES:

IMG_9286

Top>Bottom:

Essence Maximum Definition mascara, Rimmel Black Kohl eyeliner, MUA Matte Black Eyeliner, Freedom Duo Brow Powder, Freedom brow pomade.

IMG_9287

Essence Maximum Definition mascara

The small bristles on this mascara wand hug your lashes and fan them out beautifully. It gives your lashes amazing volume and good length! It’s easy to layer this product as well. Bargain  at only £2.79.

IMG_9288

Rimmel Black Kohl eyeliner

This is only £2.99 and is honestly one of the best eye pencils i’ve ever used. Once you have set this in place it stays on all day. It has really good pigmentation and is easy to use. It also smokes out nicely. I’d say, the more coats you use of it, the more intense the smokey eye will be. In the above photo, the second swatch is one coat blended with my finger whilst the first swatch is one coat of the liner.

IMG_9289

MUA Matte Black Eyeliner

My friend bought this when we were out shopping, tried it that night, when she was getting ready for our night out, and just didn’t like it. She didn’t like how thick the applicator was, so that’s something to consider if you prefer a slim applicator. I don’t find this to be overly thick, i would say it’s a standard liner applicator. ANYWAY. I love this for how I do my eyeliner. I can do it in one sweep and it’s a very true black which stays on all day. I find that the inner corner can wear off some days though. This doesn’t chip off throughout the day though. Good value for a good product. MUA have really upped their makeup game recently, it has to be said. OH. Also this is a true matte liquid. Bravo, great price, only £2. Above, the first swatch is me leaving on the side whereas the second is me leaning significantly lighter and using the point.

IMG_9290

 Freedom Duo Brow Powder

I have this in the shade soft brown and this sells for only £3. If you’re looking for a highly pigmented brow powder then this isn’t the product you’ll like. This has medium pigmentation, which I find makes it really easy to do a soft natural brow, or build it up to a more bold look. I use the lighter shade (left swatch) to fill my brows in and the darker shade (right swatch) to give my brows a more defined shape. This was great for when my hair was blonde, so maybe next time i’m in Superdrug i’ll pick up the darker shade.

IMG_9291

Freedom brow pomade

For £5 this is a complete steal as not many drugstore brands are doing a pomade kind of product for brows. This fills the brows in and also gives you a statement look, depending on how you use it. I dip my brush into this product and wipe excess off into the lid. I start off lightly because it is so much easier to add more product than take some off. This sets the brows in place, so no need for a brow gel to do this. Perhaps I’ll do a pomade tutorial, as I did my powder one recently, click *here* to read that.

LIPS:

IMG_9292

Rouge Edition Velvet Cool Brown

Another one that i’ve been raving about a lot recently. Although I only bought this one recently, I must mention it. I’ve been using it almost everyday. It sets into a comfortable matte shade and is my perfect nude shade. It sells for a bit of a pricey £8.99, but it is completely worth it. Bourjois have completely nailed the liquid lipsticks. Read a full review *here* if you’re interested in finding out more about it.

So those are my beauty favourites. Hope you enjoyed these past  14 days where I’ve been talking about makeup items. I’ve really enjoyed a more dedicated blog routine. I have more to come for the next 2 weeks also! I decided at the start of August to post for 28 days straight! I’ve said it in a post now too, so have to stick to it! So keep an eye out for my upcoming posts, there are some good ones! I have three topics, Makeup, which was this week and last week, hair and body. I’ll probably be talking about university and what I plan on bringing with me to it come September time also! ~Wow, what a range of topics you have to talk about, Steff.

So, anyway, what were you loving in July? Comment below, let me know what I should consider picking up!

Lotsa lotsa love,

Steff x

Starting From Scratch Makeup Kit

So let’s say there was a flood in your makeup collection and it ruined alllll your products… or a fire burns down your beauty favourites. After realising you have lost hundreds of pounds worth of makeup – literally –  you go to your local makeup shop and pick up your previous favourites. When hoking through my makeup drawer, deciding which products I would 100% repurchase, I was surprised to find that none were my high end products. So anyway, What did I choose?

IMG_9244

Eyes:

IMG_9246

I wouldn’t be able to go out without having my brows filled in, so it is a necessity for me to have a brow product that I know matches my brows and can do both a natural brow or a statement one. For this I chose Freedom’s Du0 Brow Powder in soft brown. This is the perfect ashy brown for my medium brown hair. Really easy to work with and is only £3.

When it comes to my eyelids, I do like to wear a bit of eyeshadow everyday. Whether this be a smokey eye, natural looking one or a bold coloured look, I tend to lift this eyeshadow palette from MUA. It is called Undress Me Too and costs £4. This is supposedly a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette. With its high pigmentation and buttery application it is my favourite everyday eyeshadow palette. Each of these shadows are cool toned also. I’ve hit pan on a quarter of this palette too! Would 100% repurchase.

A brow pencil which I always have in my makeup bag is the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in 061 Jet Black. This is just a bog standard pencil eyeliner. It has a true black pigmentation, stays in place on the tight/water line and is perfect to create a smokey liner look too. This lasts forever and is only £2.99.

So I have tried a ton of mascaras since I started using makeup. This ranges from the pricey Benefit, No.7, Clinique to the cheaper Natural Collection, Miss Sporty etc. However, one that I have been loving recently, one that seems to overtake all the previous mascaras is one from the brand Essence. This is a slightly lesser known brand, but a good’un nonetheless! This mascara seperates the lashes, gives them amazing length and 10/10 definition. I only use one coat of this, but it is easy enough to build it up also. For £2.79 it doesn’t get much better than that!

FACE:

IMG_9245

So I have to mention my new favourite from Maybelline, the Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation. This costs £5.99 and is the best foundation i have used. This is so easy to apply, doesn’t go cakey around my nose or forehead, like other foundations do, and it stays on a good amount of the day! I like how this is a natural looking finish, not too drying on the skin. A really great find and a good price too, will definitely be repurchasing when this one finishes!

Miss Sporty have launched a whole new range of products, the Insta Glow range being my favourite. I love this primer. This helps the foundation go on smoother and stay on longer throughout the day. This also is the perfect highlighting product that i’ve tried. It has the most subtle glow, one that isn’t completely OTT. This product costs £3.49 and is definitely worth a try.

I’ve also tried Miss Sporty’s Perfect Stay 10 Hours concealer. I have this in shade 001 light. This is nice and creamy, so is perfect for hiding dark circles or using as a more natural highlight. It stays on all day without creasing and is a good price too at only £2.99. This is the best concealer that i’ve ever used from the drugstore.

MUA is a very hit or miss kinda brand. However, recently a lot more of their products have been getting better and better. This pressed powder, the Skin Define Hydro Powder , which costs £3 , is the best powder that I have in my makeup bag. It is so finely milled, meaning that you only need to dab your brush into this product to get just enough off. This sets makeup perfectly without looking cakey and is perfect for touch ups throughout the day!

Lastly for face products, I was looking through my blushers trying to decide which was my favourite. Which could i use everyday and not need another? The truth was that there are none that I would choose over the rest. So I decided I would repurchase my Makeup Revolution Sugar  & Spice Blusher palette. This ranges from a neutral soft red colour to a bright orangey-peach one. This has 2 highlighters in it also. Perfect to travel with as it has so much choice and a big mirror inside also. For 8 highly pigmented products it costs £6.

LIPS:

IMG_9247

There are 2 products that I would definitely repurchase. Although I have 3 Mac lipsticks I don’t go for those often, mostly because they were so expensive and I want to save them? So the red that I lean towards every time is Red Essential from Maybelline. This lip crayon is perfect for a neat application and the product itself is really long lasting. It feels good on the lips as it doesn’t feel overly matte or dry. This has a ‘velvet’ finish and costs a small £4.99.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Cool Brown has been worn everyday since I bought it. It is the perfect natural lip colour for me and I feel like it finishes off a makeup look. This drys matte and stays put on the lips all day. Barely any reapplication throughout the day, but when you are reapplying, the applicator is really easy to use, so there’s no difficulty with applying – even without a mirror! This is a slightly more expensive product, but I say it’s completely worth it for £8.99.

IMG_9248

Lastly, in terms of applicators, there are none that I love more than the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This is a dupe for the well known and loved beauty blender. However, this only comes in at £5.99! I use this damp to apply my foundation, in a dabbing motion for the best application and I would use it dry to apply powder under my eyes for when I am baking. Really brilliant product that I feel should be in every girl’s makeup bag!

So I hope you enjoyed this post! What would you repurchase if you had no other makeup products? Comment below & share your favourites!

Thanks for reading,

A trip to Boots & First Impressions…

Ah, once again i’ve visited the local makeup shop and once again I have bought more makeup. One of these makeup items I was given for my Birthday though, so it’s not like I went completely over the top… Plus as this is my birthday month I get extra points any time I buy something in Boots… Anyway, Lemmie show ya what I got!

IMG_9241

  • Benefit: Ultra Plush Lipgloss – Fauxmance
  • Maybelline: Fit Me Matte + Poreless – 105
  • Sleek: i-Divine – Enchanted Forest
  • Benefit: Gimme Brow – Shade 1
  • Bourjois: Rouge Edition Velvet – 17 Cool Brown
  • Maybelline: Colour Tattoo – 91 Creme de Rose

So i’ll start from the top then!

IMG_9234

Benefit: Ultra Plush Lipgloss – Fauxmance £14.50

So this was the lovely lovely lipgloss that I was given for my Birthday. I had tried Benefit lipgloss with the Dandelion product and absolutely loved it. This is the perfect consistency for me! I love how it isn’t sticky but also not oily. This tastes like grapefruit and has such a lovely colour to it. I like to dab this onto my lips and then blend it in using my finger. Hoping this tube lasts me ages because i’m just in love!

Maybelline: Fit Me Matte + Poreless – 105 £5.99

Finally, a foundation that is from a trustworthy brand that isn’t a rip off! I’ve noticed recently that lots of brands have been increasing the prices of their concealers and foundations… I thought it was supposed to be highstreet products for highstreet prices?! Apparently not for many brands. I imagine this one is a bit cheaper as it is in a squeezy tube as opposed to a glass bottle. I don’t mind a glass bottle because I like that the pump gives you a good amount of product whereas you have to ‘eye’ it with a squeezy one. However once you are coming to the last of your product in a glass bottle it’s impossible to get it out, unlike a squeezy one where you can cut off the end and get the remainder of product! -Or maybe am I going overboard on the cheapskate? ANYWAY. That’s what I thought of the packaging… But what about the product? This is way more liquidy than any other matte foundation i’ve used, which made it much easier to blend without going all cakey around my nose and forehead. The colour matches my skin really nicely and i’d say it leaves a satin-finish moreso than a matte one. Honestly though, i much prefer that to completely matte because it looks way more natural. 8/8 Maybelline! I will likely be repurchasing this one as it is a good price and a good product! I’ve noticed recently that I don’t actually like a lot of the foundations that I have because i find they go quite cakey on my skin, so I might do a post about my foundations and whether or not I recommend them?

Sleek: i-Divine – Enchanted Forest £8.99

So this was actually what I was looking for when I went to Boots, but of course I couldn’t resist from all the other deals going on! I was looking specifically for a maroon shade eyeshadow, one that would look beauttt in my crease. I’ve heard many amazing things about Sleek eyeshadow palettes, but when brands like Makeup Revolution and MUA do palettes as cheap as £4, i’m more likely to reach for them. But, neither of these brands were doing the shade that I was looking for, so I looked at the Sleek stall. This palette has deep shades of colours not typically seen in your everyday shadow palette. I’m really pleased that I picked this up however as I can definitely see myself making use of these. The shade ‘Anastasia‘ ( 2nd row, 4th across) is the one that I was looking for – kinda (Still on the hunt…) I love each of these shades and can definitely see myself making bold eye looks with these. I think this definitely replaces my Urban Decay palette, the one that everyone got in like 2010… The purple one with the metal beads? If you know it you’ll understand why this is replacing it – these colours are stronger, less neon, more wearable. If you don’t know it click *here* to see it.

Benefit: Gimme Brow – Shade 1 £18.50

So let me start by bragging… I got this for £4… In fact I bought 2. They were in a magazine that was reduced as it was out of season and I just couldn’t help myself. Again, the boyfriend stood there baffled by my excitement, but i can confidently say that i wouldn’t be the only one basically jumping with glee at this bargain! So what do I think of this? Lol it’s ok. Not overly much to write home about. I do prefer this to the dupe I have for it (I will post about this soon, I swear) but I most definitely will not be paying £18.50 for it when I run out. Maybe £10. I’ll do a full review of this, again in an upcoming post, but i’ll say now that it isn’t worth £18.50 – in my opinion.

Bourjois: Rouge Edition Velvet – 17 Cool Brown £8.99

In a previous post I was talking about how much I love the Rouge Edition Velvet lip creams from Bourjois. Nothing has changed. When I spotted this brown-nude shade in Boots I couldn’t help but pick it up. If you read the previous post (Click Here) then you will know I found the perfect shade in the Maybelline range, but it didn’t seem to have the same lasting power as the Bourjois range. So this is perfect. I’m in LOVE. This fills in my lips – covers the lipscar which i’m not a fan of – and is a perfect nude shade for me. 8/8, Bourjois! I know £9 seems a bit much for a highstreet brand, but this is deffo deffo worth it. You won’t be disappointed!

Maybelline: Colour Tattoo – 91 Creme de Rose £4.99

So i’ve posted before about my opinion of the colour tattoos from Maybelline – to sum up, I think they’re OK… I have On and On Bronze and Tough as Taupe honestly, the bronze one isn’t one that I often reach for because I prefer a more cream base to my shadows and the Taupe one, I feel is too dark to use as a base, so i’d only really use it for my brows or as a creamy eyeliner. It’s also weird going from Mac’s creamy Paintpots to this stiffer product – you’d only understand if you’ve used both. I really do hesitate when paying for any product from Mac though. I’d have been happy to buy more colour tattoos had they have been selling more of a range in colours, which they seemed to in America. So anyway, when I saw this I was so excited to use it. This is amazing and makes the shadow stay on all day, increasing it’s vibrancy also as the shade is lovely and light. The perfect base for a good price. I am yet to try wearing this by itself though, I imagine it would stay on without needing set with shadows though as it is a thicker consistency.

Hope you enjoyed this post, thanks for reading! Also, thanks for sticking with me, even when I take like 3 month breaks between posts.  I have some in mind though, so expect some good ones soon! Hope this one wasn’t too rambley for you – unless you like that kind of style!

Much love,
